Re: Great Eras
Date: 2001-03-24 05:22 am (UTC)Confused now. I got this catalogue from Mattel that tells me Gibson Girl and Flapper were both '93, the Egyptian Queen and Southern Belle in '94, and the rest respectively in '95, '96 and '97. Though I'm not sure if they didn't do new versions of the early ones later. Hmm ... ^_^ But I agree, the 'great era' definition is up for interpretion. If it was up to me, I'd put both Gibson Girl and Flapper into this new series, Great Fashions of the 20th Century or something like that. They'd fit in there much better.
On a totally different note, I've just seen a pic of the new Orchid Barbie and she looks amazing. ::dreamy sigh::
Re: Great Eras
Date: 2001-03-24 06:39 am (UTC)Do you have the US catalogue? It works differently sometimes. Hm... well, never mind. But I agree. Southern Belle could be part of the Great Eras. After all, they didn't have a US era Barbie in that series. And yes, I'd put Flapper and Gibson Girl to Great Fashions, too. Not much of an Era to me ^_^. Okay, then I guess I don't have the Great Eras complete, but I never much liked Southern Belle. I mean, she was nice, but she didn't get me as excited as dolls I buy usually do! ^_^
I love my Irish Barbie. Her red hair and green eyes...
Ack... I need to dedust my Barbie shelf eventually... but I can't right now. Got troubles breathing already.
Orchid Barbie is the one of the Flowers in Fashion, no? Hm... not sure. The Flowers dolls don't have enough to make me go wild. You know? I want the gowns to be proportional, including the hairdo and the accessories. The Flowers have such a bulge of cloth around them... I don't think I've seen the Orchid yet though. I was thinking of the Rose right now.
