There's actually a third one in the series, Evening Star Princess, that looks like that:

They are beautiful, aren't they? Each year, I vow not to buy any more dolls, and each year they start such beautiful series. ::whimper:: It's just unfair.

Have you seen the new Fflowers in Fashion series ... it's amazingly beautiful! Btw, there's a store here in Germany where you can order them, and they sometimes offer them to extremely good prices. If you want to, I can give you their address. :)

Yeah, I know her...

I usually don't collect complete series. I just buy the dolls I like and I don't really like this one. The hair is nice, but she's too blonde for my taste ^_^.

The only collection I've collected complete was the Great Era one *_*. And the Hollywood Legends, as much as I could. I never managed to find the Cowardly Lion of Wizard of Oz... ?_`::

I've seen another collection in NY, now THAT was awesome, Barbie as Morticia Adams and Ken as Gomez! *WOW* And Barbie and Ken as Phantom of the Opera cast... *whimper* I seriously need to become a millionaire...

Sure, if you can give addresses, go ahead! ^_^ I usually order them in the States, but that's pricey, with the duty, shipping and crap... >_

You managed to get the complete Great Era collection? Wow. I think there are four I don't have, including the totally gorgeous Southern Belle. ::sniff:: The only series I ever completed was Bob Mackie's Jewel Essence Collection and the City Seasons. Well, and huge parts of the Dolls of the World series before I realized that the apartment was too small and they would never fit in. :(

The most beautiful one I've ever seen was Mackie's The Queen of Hearts. I'm still trying to get a hold of her for a reasonable price ...

Anyway, the address is:
Uschi & Udo Scheithauer
Hauptstr. 20
72639 Neuffen
Tel. 07025-5348

I just got the latest newsleter ... Givenchy Barbie for 79 DM. ::pout:: I paid more than twice for it. ::sigh::

No, I don't have the new Great Eras. I've got the first series, the Southern Belle belongs to the newer one that I never quite liked. I've got the one with the Medieval, Elisabethian, Greek etc.

City Season is awesome! I missed that one. I wasn't buying any dolls at that time :-(. I liked Autumn... hmmm. To be honest, I never really much adored Bob Mackie. He's just too much for me. I like the new one, what is it? Women of the World? That one's nice, but the others always were too much for my taste. The Queen of Hearts only fascinated me, because she was the first after *years* to have her mouth closed. I wanted her for that. Later, all of them had the mouth closed! LOL

I think there are far too little "Ken as" dolls. And it's only Ken! I want the Alan and Steve mould, that looks so much cooler! grrrrr...

Thanks for the addy!

There were two Great Eras series? I remember only one, consisting of ten dolls (Victorian Lady, , French Lady, Grecian Goddess, Elizabethan Queen, Chinese Empress, Medielval Lady, Southern Belle, Egyptian Queen, Flapper and Gibson Girl). It went on from 1993 to 1997, and except for Flapper I thought all of them were totally gorgeous, especially the Victorian Lady. :) In fact, it was because of her I started buying Barbie Collectibles.

To be honest, the Jewel Essence Collection was the only series from Mackie I really liked. You're right, most of the other collections are a bit too much, and besides the prices were too high (I refuse to pay 250$ for one doll. No way.). He didn't overdo with the Jewel series, though. This one is simply amazing, even if she looks much better in reality:

And you're right, there could be more Ken's. Even the existing ones rarely look like their real-life counterparts, do they? Ken as Mulder from the X Files Gift Set could be anyone ... except Mulder.

Well... I guess it's a matter of interpretation. To be, Great Eras was finished with Victorian Lady, French Lady, Grecian Goddess, Elizabethan Queen, Chinese Empress, Medieval Lady and Egyptian Queen. I've got all of them.

Southern Belle, Flapper and Gibson Girl to me was only a reprise. There's been a break of a year or so, maybe more, between the old series and the three reprise dolls. I refuse to accept that those last three are part of Great Eras, to me they're merely some American periods, but Great Eras? No way! ^_^

I agree, Mackie is ridiculously expensive. I can get 3 other dolls for the price of one Mackie.

Well, about Ken not looking like his real-life counterparts, if you look at it, Barbie doesn't do that either, eh? They are just stand-ins, wearing their fashion. The new Hollywood Legends series changes that. You get James Dean, Frank Sinatra, Elvis etc. Those look real, but it's not really what I want. I *want* Barbie as... Ken as... Midge as... ^_^.

Ken as Rhett Butler looked a lot like his real-life counterpart, IMO. And Ken as Henry Higgins is fine, too. I always like it when they get a few distinguished wrinkles! hehehe

Confused now. I got this catalogue from Mattel that tells me Gibson Girl and Flapper were both '93, the Egyptian Queen and Southern Belle in '94, and the rest respectively in '95, '96 and '97. Though I'm not sure if they didn't do new versions of the early ones later. Hmm ... ^_^ But I agree, the 'great era' definition is up for interpretion. If it was up to me, I'd put both Gibson Girl and Flapper into this new series, Great Fashions of the 20th Century or something like that. They'd fit in there much better.

On a totally different note, I've just seen a pic of the new Orchid Barbie and she looks amazing. ::dreamy sigh::

Confused now, too... ?_`:

Do you have the US catalogue? It works differently sometimes. Hm... well, never mind. But I agree. Southern Belle could be part of the Great Eras. After all, they didn't have a US era Barbie in that series. And yes, I'd put Flapper and Gibson Girl to Great Fashions, too. Not much of an Era to me ^_^. Okay, then I guess I don't have the Great Eras complete, but I never much liked Southern Belle. I mean, she was nice, but she didn't get me as excited as dolls I buy usually do! ^_^

I love my Irish Barbie. Her red hair and green eyes...

Ack... I need to dedust my Barbie shelf eventually... but I can't right now. Got troubles breathing already.

Orchid Barbie is the one of the Flowers in Fashion, no? Hm... not sure. The Flowers dolls don't have enough to make me go wild. You know? I want the gowns to be proportional, including the hairdo and the accessories. The Flowers have such a bulge of cloth around them... I don't think I've seen the Orchid yet though. I was thinking of the Rose right now.
