I know this may sound odd after bashing Smallville so much and all. And I still think the show is extremely stupid and a collect point for X-Files rejects... and still. It's such a cheap trick, but I feel for it. I can't close my eyes to the slashiness of it! x_x Thing is, I can't get my hands on a lot of episodes yet, but I have ... urges. So, is there anybody who knows SV well slashwise and would be willing to give me the lowdown? That'd be very appreciated! Thanks! ^_^

I'm new to the Smallville fandom, and despite the contrived plot devices, the story is actually fairly decent, and the characters are worth watching for their character development. And the slashiness abounds. I think the popular, outstanding pairing is of course, Clark Kent and Lex Luthor. I think about any combonation of males after that is a given.

I'm happy to help in whatever way I can, if you want it. :)

I don't doubt that the overall story is decent. I just haven't seen that yet. What annoys me the most are those freaks every episode who always have some kryptonite-inflicted superpower and they always stalk one of Our Noble Heroes and then they meet their end through the hands of Clark either directly or indirectly or suffer a loss of memory. I sure hope that the characters are going to develop more, and that's also my main interest, since I always strive to be IC when I write.

I guess another problem I have is that I just *know* nothing good is ever coming from Clark/Lex. I've read the comics, I know that Lex will turn out to be Clark's arch enemy and I wonder how and why. With Harry/Draco I can at least dream since nothing is canon yet.

And yes, Clark/Lex is just to blatant. The looks Lex gives Clark sometimes O.o. Good Lord.

Know my pet peeve OOCness? Clark raping Lex. I know he could do that, physically, but I just don't see him doing that. He's not like that at all, and Lex isn't the kind of guy who'd just let it happen, even if he was physically unable to stop him.

Right now, the thing I wonder about the most is Lex's development and canonical facts (family, biography, development etc.) and the status of Clark's abilities and story progress. I hear he dates Chloe later on? *gags* That's just wrong... Oh well.

I admit, my one drawing factor to the show is to see how they handle the progression of Lex to the Dark Side (it's gotta be better than what they'd done with Anakin Skywalker . . ).

Anyway, I don't read much fic in general, and I've never read a Clark-rapes-Lex fic., but I can completely understand not liking that. It seems entirely, entirely too OOC to me, and I'm such a picky fanfiction reader to begin with, that I can't usually abide by OOCness, unless it's really well done, with a plot-driven reason.

As for knowing that Clark/Lex is doomed to fail, I think that's part of the beauty of their relationship. As beautiful as you want it to be, in the end, it's given they will hate each other, or become mortal enemies. Being a fan of angst, this is really up my alley. Of course, there are many alternate universes to play in as well, if you don't like what canon has in store.

I quite fond of Lionel Luthor as well, and his relationship with Lex (both sexual and none) and Martha Kent's relationship with Lionel. That trio is played up quite nicely in the show, I think. Of course, the series is candized for WB, so they have the monster-of-the-week episodes and easy solutions and the uneasy feeling viewers get when we realise Clark has killed half the population of Sunnydale Smallville by now. But, of course, if you take that part aside and just deal with the subtext and the characters, and poke about what that they mean when they say some of their more mundane lines, it gets considerably more interesting.

And, yes, Lex is pretty nice to watch it for too. I don't think he and Chloe ever date canonically, since Chloe was created specifically for Smallville (i.e. she doesn't exist in the Superman universes as we know it). Of course, that could be spoilers you read for future episodes, but it seems somehow unlikely. To make it work would require a feat of genius (namely because Chloe is 16/17 and Lex is 22 and there are illegal complications within that). But as unsavoury as the pairing might be, to make it work, and be believable, might be worth watching.

Sorry, rambling. :)
