Okay, odd request, here goes:
Jan. 30th, 2003 02:08 amI know this may sound odd after bashing Smallville so much and all. And I still think the show is extremely stupid and a collect point for X-Files rejects... and still. It's such a cheap trick, but I feel for it. I can't close my eyes to the slashiness of it! x_x Thing is, I can't get my hands on a lot of episodes yet, but I have ... urges. So, is there anybody who knows SV well slashwise and would be willing to give me the lowdown? That'd be very appreciated! Thanks! ^_^

Date: 2003-01-30 09:34 am (UTC)Anyway, I don't read much fic in general, and I've never read a Clark-rapes-Lex fic., but I can completely understand not liking that. It seems entirely, entirely too OOC to me, and I'm such a picky fanfiction reader to begin with, that I can't usually abide by OOCness, unless it's really well done, with a plot-driven reason.
As for knowing that Clark/Lex is doomed to fail, I think that's part of the beauty of their relationship. As beautiful as you want it to be, in the end, it's given they will hate each other, or become mortal enemies. Being a fan of angst, this is really up my alley. Of course, there are many alternate universes to play in as well, if you don't like what canon has in store.
I quite fond of Lionel Luthor as well, and his relationship with Lex (both sexual and none) and Martha Kent's relationship with Lionel. That trio is played up quite nicely in the show, I think. Of course, the series is candized for WB, so they have the monster-of-the-week episodes and easy solutions and the uneasy feeling viewers get when we realise Clark has killed half the population of
SunnydaleSmallville by now. But, of course, if you take that part aside and just deal with the subtext and the characters, and poke about what that they mean when they say some of their more mundane lines, it gets considerably more interesting. And, yes, Lex is pretty nice to watch it for too. I don't think he and Chloe ever date canonically, since Chloe was created specifically for Smallville (i.e. she doesn't exist in the Superman universes as we know it). Of course, that could be spoilers you read for future episodes, but it seems somehow unlikely. To make it work would require a feat of genius (namely because Chloe is 16/17 and Lex is 22 and there are illegal complications within that). But as unsavoury as the pairing might be, to make it work, and be believable, might be worth watching.
Sorry, rambling. :)
