Somebody please explain US society to me. A single boob on TV and they're ready to throw all their much revered tenets of free speech and democracy out of the window -.-;. What's the fucking deal? If Justin Timberlake had chomped off a hamster's head on stage nobody would have as much as quirked an eyebrow, most likely. But oh no, we can't show titties on TV. Pierced titties at that -.-;. This is so annoying. Now they've made everyone, including the President, apologize profusely for wardrobe malfunctions and what not, Janet's been banned from the Grammys, everybody is outraged and annoyed and in the end they might put a delay on all future live shows such as the upcoming Grammys or Oscars to make sure no "improper" content can ever flicker across the screen anymore. In other words, goodbye Michael Moore, Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn, no more nice and controversial speeches for you, pallies.

God I hate double standards and hypocrisy.

Sounds like a lot (a LOT!) of fuss for nothing. The ones implicated said it was an accident! And if it wasn't, it was just a silly show, who cares!

It was obviously staged. Even before they still claimed it was an accident it was clear. And even though, who fucking cares. It's just a boob. Jesus H. Christ. Personally I'm a lot more enraged and annoyed when someone mistreats animals on stage than someone flipping out a boob. People really need to set their priorities straight.

Hypocrisy and double standards. Both are things I don't tolerate at all. *grumbles*

It's bull

Every time i go to eat at the Powell building (where the cafeteria is at my school) i hear this story on CTN (College television network). I wish they would shut the hell up and let me eat!

I agree with you, America has so many double standards. Hell, i wish someone would do something to piss people off. Why can't they leave things alone!

This is why I love people like Rage Against The Machine, Eminem and Marilyn Manson. They're the ones who've peeked behind the curtain and tell people the truth and this is why everybody hates them.

Yes I really wonder. They think they're the top notch but when you scrape at the surface it's just ugly. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of things I love about the USA. But it hurts me to see how they're throwing everything out of the window with fucked up shit like that. Gah.

oh but you see, it all works out for Janet. Now she is back in the public eye, and for anyone under 40 she is probably a hero for triumphing over 'da man' and now that she is banned from the grammy's, she will sell even more records.

do people honestly think this was all an accident? i mean its soo clearly a setup cause janet needs attention and money.

LOL of course it wasn't an accident. It was so obviously staged. I mean, which costume would have a single removable bustier cup? And the way she reacted and everything was 100% staged. Which probably makes it even worse for most people >_>;.

I'm not so sure whether it really works out all that well. There have been other stunts that definitely worked out, such as the Britney / Madonna kiss, but here she might just have taken the joke too far. The trick about doing a stunt like that is to get enough free press coverage to make it worthwhile without having anti-leagues formed against her. And by taking out her booby she has a good chance for that, you know? After the Superbowl her latest single was emergency released two weeks before the actual release date. She definitely managed to get back into the public focus, but I'm afraid there might be a cost. Especially with her brother in court and all. They'll only use it all against him, saying the entire family is oversexed and likes to expose children to this yadda-yadda. And it's ONLY A BOOB! *sighs*

I'm sorry ... You don't know me .. But I was scrolling through and found there's a few facts mixed up here ...

First of all ... She wasn't banned from the Grammy's ... She was however asked not to preform ... A performance with her and Justin Timberlake was orriginally scheduled however after the incident at the Super Bowl they were both removed from the Grammy schedule ... However ... She was told that she was more than welcome to come and watch as a guest ... She chose not to go ...

Second ... It was indeed staged that the cup of her outfit would come off ... However she was to have a "pastie" over her nipple ... Which apparently also came off with the removable part of her costume ...

And last ... I completely agree with you all ... It's just a boob ... Who gives a flying rats ass ... America claims to be the "Land of the free" ... However it's really ... "You're free to do anything you wish ... So long as you don't offend anyone ... "

I don't see the sales of her albums going up or down because of this ... Mainly because if a person found it courageous ... She apologized for it ... Thereby admitting guilt ... And saying that it wasn't courageous at all ... Taking away anything that people might have believed in because of it ... And also ... If a person found it to be offensive ... Again ... She apologized ... It was an accident ... Que sera sera ...

Again ... Agreed ... It's just a boob ... More than half the population of the world has them ... Get over it ...

Okay! Thanks for straightening up that Grammys bit. What I read gave me the impression she had been asked not to appear. AND I think they didn't want her to present a Grammy anymore, which kinda is like banning her. It's over the top at any rate, IMO.

I totally agree with you on the being courageous thing. Well people are talking about her and everybody's seen her boob now, but she won't become a #1 record seller now. And even worse, Justin Timberlake who just can't stop apologizing. The ultimate wimp.

It was JUST A BOOB! *rolls eyes*
