Where are the John Wilkes Booths when you need them? *looks around* Do I have to go to jail now for saying that? >_> Meh... this makes me so angry. I'm just saying that if ANY of you on this list who constantly complain about certain people and have suffrage in the US they should fucking move their asses next year, register to vote and GO VOTE!!! Not going to elections is exactly what causes all this fucking shit. Most people with liberal views think voting is for poopyheads and just don't go vote. And then the world is stuck with this. So, fucking accept your responsibilities and do something!

Date: 2003-10-15 03:22 am (UTC)I admit we could provide a better incentive to protect wildlife, but this isn't it in so many ways.
(Douglas Adams was involved in a bunch of people walking in a Rhino costume to Kilimanjaro, partly to raise funds and partly to educate people about saving wildlife ... the concept being, if we don't look after the people, why should they look after the wildlife? So they were building schools and things like that with the money they raised.)

Date: 2003-10-15 03:54 am (UTC)Yes, the protection of wildlife is wanting in so many ways. The problem most of the time is awareness. People don't care to read newletters of the Sierra Club and the such. What works is tarting it up with some sort of show or movie and other media and then make the masses get interested in it. That's one reason why I support Siegfried & Roy's show. I also don't approve of tigers (or any animal) being brought on stage, but in their case they do so much to raise awareness. They don't just let their tigers jump through hoops. I've seen it. When they're on stage it's usually a lot more quiet and they run clips on their life and how noble and rare theses creatures are. This is what captures the masses nowadays, IMO. Maybe it should be done with more care for the animals, but all in all this is the right concept. Otherwise nobody will give a fuck.
Ah... I miss Douglas Adams ;_;. And that's true, too. You can't love animals if you hate humans. I mean, many people can, but you shouldn't. Humans and animals should be able to coexist, with none of them suffering.

Date: 2003-10-15 03:58 am (UTC)The awareness idea is a good one.
Maybe I should become a rock star and then pontificate about this (assuming the rest of the band let me).

Thom Yorke rocks my lock, my stock and my two smoking socks.

Date: 2003-10-15 04:39 am (UTC)Maybe I don't hate people. Hate is such a strong word. I just don't want most people near me. I don't want them to touch me. But I guess I don't hate them. I still wish them no harm. That is... if I had a baseball club while I'm stuck in a crowd... dunno what'd happen XD.
Oooh yes, Thom Yorke is marvellous *_*. Rufus Wainwright... Joshua Kadison, too. So many wonderful souls. Too many to mention.
dont hate me...
Date: 2003-10-15 09:16 am (UTC)I dont vote...and bitch about Dubya because if I take the time out of my schedule to go vote, it would be time wasted. I'm from South Carolina, and my state votes Republican (the whole electoral college thing).
So if i got up, went to vote, i'd be wasting my time because all my state's electoral votes go to the republicans anyway. Now that I've actually moved out my state, but still a formal resident of my home state I'd have to send out for an absentee ballot. That means I'd have to send notice to my government for them to send me back a ballot (and at the rate the government moves, it'd be forever before anything happens) so I'd vote weeks ahead of election day... to a state that would just ultimately disregard my vote anyway.
I know its all about having my voice heard. But why should i try and scream one thing where a multitude of other people scream something else. I'm outnumbered. And I'd rather spend my mornings sleeping than being pissed off that I wouldnt be heard anyway.
Base it on the popular vote, and I'd take my ass to the polls and accept my responsibility. As it is now... I dont have a choice. So I won't waste my time trying to claw through a brick wall with my fingers. Just my situation. :)
