I just don't know why Sher is like that... I thought he'd be better now after I ignored him all day yesterday. He even sat down next to me twice without me even asking him to! So I figured he'd want to be petted. But instead he attacks me T_T. I don't know what I'm doing wrong and how to stop it... my arms and feet are covered with gashes and most of them are deep enough to build scars... I look horrible... T_T I just wish he'd stop...

You know this sounds just like Douglas. Can you wrestle him down and hold him tight until he has calmed down? that's what we do. Can be that he just wants to play. Or it could be the heat. The heat make them crazy. I'm sure he loves you. *hugs*

i can't help thinking that with such feline character that he shows you should probably stop considering him a cuddly Kuscheltier and start treating him like the grown up tomcat predator that he actually is.
i think you've somewhere slipped into the submissive role with him, and he knows it..

But how do I treat him like that? It's not like I don't try to be tough! I yell at him and I push him away. I basically do everything except hitting him because I don't want him to associate my hands with punishment. Today after he bit into my arm and wouldn't let go I bit him into the back real hard, for Pete's sake! What else am I supposed to do? ;_; And it's not like he's always vicious. He's also very lovely and cuddly at times. Then he'll just sit next to me and cuddle up. A bit after that last attack I was lying on the lawn and Sher suddenly came along, lay down on my arm and put his head into my hand! He does that too! I just can't tell when he'll come to attack and when he'll come to cuddle! And this is driving me nuts!

i know it's not easy. i think humans in general are more compatible with dogs than cats. emotionally we understand dogs better. it's much more familiar territory.
cats are strange. and special in a way. i don't think there can be any "warm" love with a cat (maybe there are a few exceptions). it's "cool" love, cool respect. cats are cool (or max. lukewarm :) ). distant. independent. aloof. even when they cuddle. just observe your cat and try to find that catness within yourself. once you feel it, it will be easier.
try not to be "emotionally vulnerable" with him (if i can use that term). i think you need to close up a little bit, be cool like him. and don't let him manipulate you around. ;)

there's another thing. it's not a rule that you automatically have to get along with a pet. animals have a character too. like i totally don't get along with our dog. character-wise. and there's no "deeper" relationship between us. he's not a close friend to me.

But you see, that's the thing! We used to have a really close friendship. I mean he's with me for 4 years now or so! We used to be really close and big big friends. And I'm totally a cat person. I mean, I even meow in real life, I swear! And we used to be able to communicate. I knew exactly what he said and I could tell him what I meant, too. So... I wonder what happened that it changed. I don't know why he is that way now... Maybe he's hurting or I'm doing something he doesn't like. But I can't say what. Maybe I've got some scent on my body he can't stand... I really don't know. It can't be my voice since it hasn't changed much and I usually don't speak that much when I'm around him. Every time I shout he runs off (when he's not aggressive towards me). Or maybe it's the catnip? It started growing in our garden and now he's always lying around drunkenly... Meow...

gomen ne, eep, blood on couch! ::nods:: sometimes works to say 'no' then destract him with a toy or something. If he's attacking you randomly, the odds are that he's treating you like a cat and trying to wrestle with you... would reccomend something on a string, or maybe feathers on a stick so he doesn't get too close while feeling aggressive... LoL, we have one cat that loves to play, but is dangerous to get near him while he's playing!

you should invest a squirt bottle, and give him a nice one in the face whenever he plays too rough. That's the thing with cats - he probably doesn't see it as attacking, but playing. My cat, Kit, used to be the same way, but we've learned to punish him if he acted out of line. He still attacks my hand if i rub his belly tho XD;; *hugs* ;_;

Yes, I'm gonna arm myself with a squirt gun now. No more Mr Nice Guy. He won't learn, I can see that now. I can only try to get him off me. Blowing into his face worked for a bit but now it doesn't and I'll run danger of having him in my face then >_<. I've hosed him down a bunch of times before and it really only served to keep him away. He always tried again when I wasn't looking. That was when he tried to attack a bird's nest -.-;.
