Jul. 16th, 2003 02:52 pmSIEGFRIED IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We had put up the posters and all and now a woman rang at our door, saying they found a turtle two days ago!!!! She described him funnily though, so I didn't know it was him. But I checked it out and it was him!!! Oh my God, I'm so happy! I already missed him so much! I had to walk around 10 minutes until I had reached the spot where they had intercepted him! Imagine that! I was really far away! He had to walk down the slope (which is really steep!!!) and then through the valley to the other side of the town, up another hill! Jesus! He's never run away this far before! But all's well that ends well... I'm so happy. And lucky! The woman said that another family had been there the other day and they had left him since theirs was lighter. That was very honest of them. They just could have taken Siegfried for the hell of it.
I'm so happy...
Mom is buying planks now. We're going to fence him in now. The chicken wire obviously is shitty. I fed him some melon which he took happily. I think he was glad to come home. Where they had kept him, he had to sit in a 5x5 feet pen in the hot sun and his only cover was a wooden box >_<. When I carried him home in a basket he kept shuffling around, looking for shadow. Then when I put him back into his part of the garden, he immediately ran into the shadow under the hedge and rested. When he saw I had some melon he came dashing out again and ate it within 2 mins or so. *pets Siggy* He's all dusty and dirty. Poor guy... must have had quite an adventure.
I'm gonna check on him again now...

Date: 2003-07-16 06:59 am (UTC)I want to give him a chance to rest now. He was really tired. I'll bathe him tomorrow. I'll also take him to the kindergarten next door since they've been so nice and looking for him for two days. They deserve to know and see that Siegfried is back and well off.
*hugs*

Date: 2003-07-17 02:17 am (UTC)You want a translation of the Nibelungenlied?
Badabing! ==> http://sunsite.berkeley.edu/OMACL/Nibelungenlied/
It's not the best, but it's something! The name that cracks me up the most is "Blödel" XD.

Date: 2003-07-17 06:24 am (UTC)oh you rock. i must read this.
i wish i could reread the simplified version we had in our german textbooks at school. it had cool pictures.
blumentopferde is the best word. (not that it has anything to do with the Nibelungenlied.)
it was really funny the other night. my Dad is trying to learn some czech before we go to Prague and he found a site with czech tongue twister and one translated to 'stick your finger through your throat'. it sounds so funny.
anyway, i'm rambling...
