Corázon Salvaje?
Mar. 28th, 2003 12:09 pmI've been meaning to post this already yesterday, but somehow I never got around finishing it.
Yesterday I suddenly had this strong urge to watch Corázon Salvaje again. What is this, you may ask. And I shall answer. It's a so called telenovela, a Mexican soap that was aired in the early 90s. 1993, to be precise. I watched it when I was... 15ish? Not sure. At this point I didn't speak a word of Spanish. We still received Galavisión via satellite. I was flipping through the channels boredly one day and saw it. Oh my God, it was fantastic! I immediately fell in love with Juan del Diablo. He was so handsome and wild, I just had to know what this about. Of course, way back then there was no internet (yes, such a time existed!) and I didn't know anybody who spoke Spanish. So, what did I do? I went to a bookstore, bought a bunch of dictionaries and teach-yourself books and went ahead and learnt Spanish. Crazy me, huh? Of course I never really was good, nor did I understand ever word they spoke, but by the time the series ended (I was heartbroken! T_T) I even understood what the heck Juan and Andrés had been talking about! XD
Now, years later, I suddenly remember this show and I want to see it again. I'm not even sure what triggered it off... oh, now I know. Sabby, Tom and I were discussing soaps and I said you ain't seen nothing yet if you haven't seen Mexican soaps, having that one soap, Miramar or whatsitcalled, in mind. And then I remembered Corazón Salvaje... *happy sigh* I wish I hadn't erased all those tapes I had made then! I wish I could get the books in English, because my Spanish is way too rusty to understand it. But of course Corazón Salvaje is unheard of around here and so it Caridad Bravo Adams. *sighs*
I don't even know why this show moved me so. I guess it's because I absolutely adore stories with pirates! *blushes* I know it's cheesy, but I just love the mood, the looks, the storylines and everything about them. Talking about romanticized pirates here, of course. And Juan del Diablo was on. Muscular, tanned, long black hair... *murrs* And a love that cannot be, deception, betrayal, sugar and spice and everything nice. Just a perfect little soap. Monica was very pretty, too! And every 5 shows or so someone would get shot or near-fatally wounded! XD! God I just love those plot twists.
*sighs* Now I really wish I could watch it. *pouts*

Date: 2003-03-28 03:37 am (UTC)It was about two mothers, Carla and Ana, fighting for the same child, with lots of characters and sidestories, all of which were resolved in the final episode where all the good characters became happy forever after and the evil ones (a guy who had cheated on his girlfriend with her mother for instance) became lonely and miserable. I especially liked the old father of Carla. She was kind of a problemkid, getting pregnant, doing drugs, drinking, and he just loved her through everything and forgave her everything. In the last episode he married this goodhearted prostitute/stripper his own age and saved her. very sweet!
