Well there is no set time to it, really. But it's usually done after Fasching, which ends one day before Ash Wednesday. To drive out winter for good. We didn't actually burn a witch, but winter. And yes, I took the pics ^_^. I have a lot more! *smiles* We had mulled wine, sausages and fishwichs, but I only had a fishwich (for obvious reasons) and only because I was so so hungry. Right now my tummy aches from it >_<.
It sounds like it was a nice family outing. That's nice, I like traditions. Was it not cold? Eating and drinking outside sure sounds nice. BTW, has Germany had its try-outs for the ESC yet?
Yes it was a nice family outing ^_^. My bro was playing the trombone in the band that accompanied the torch-bearers. It was cold, but it's gotten a lot better. During the day it's spring-like. It got cold when night fell, but the fire was so damn hot that we didn't really notice it. Until later, that is... LOL.
Yes, actually we did have the try-outs just last Friday. I didn't follow it too closely though, since none of the contestants really caught my interest. There was another of those "popular contestants", some guy who's a personality imitator. He was in the charts last December for a parody of the Las Ketchup song where he sang like the chancellor. There was a rubber version of him in the video and all. And he did the same for the try-outs and even got among the last three! I thought he was funny but I would have been horribly embarrassed if we had showed up like that in Talinn. The others were all pretty lame I guess. I barely watched it. And of course now we chose the lamest songs of all, written by that same old geezer who's been trying to win for years and who's always failed miserably. He did that song for the blind chick, too, and then vowed he'd never ever participate in the ESC again, and see what came from it >_<. Oh well... it's really lost its sparkle. And people no longer care, really. The participation proved that. Barely anybody watched it this year, they lost 40% of the viewers. People were a lot more interested in that Pop Idol thing.
