well.. since expensive => has to be natural fibre. (i assume.) sheep? no. cotton? no. linen? no. silkworm? perhaps.. (you know, all those little caterpillars feeding on mulberry leaves..)
still more expensive? a special kind of silk.. silk brocade? a special silk brocade. hm. handmade canton silk brocade.
ok. still more expensive? add some golden thread.
only i have no idea how light or soft such a fabric may be..

chami cloth is really soft but VERY warm, uncomfortably so. Raw silk is nice, it drapes well, and doesn't have that slipperyness that silk does. you could try going satin.
