About my sorry state as a webmistress

I got webspace at slashcity! YEIH! This is awesome! But of course I'm too stupid to configure the FTP. There's supposed to be a very detailed page with instructions but where the hell is it??? `_ยด I could have moved in this very night, dammit! *cusses*
I've got myself a domain, too! Weeeheeeee! At least I think I do... unless someone snatched it the very second I was in the process of registering for the service, which would be very unfortunate indeed. If not, then I am the proud owner of... *drumroll*
www.glasscases.net!
Hah, I can see it in your blank faces! You're going... what the hell? I'll tell you! There's this very beautiful quote that means a lot to me. It's from J.D. Salinger's 'Catcher in the Rye' and goes to the effect of
"Certain things they should stay the way they are. You ought to be able to stick them in one of this big glass cases and just let them be."
It's very meaningful, IMO. It could mean nostalgia, but also preserving what is dear to you, making it immortal and setting a sign for everybody to see. That's what I want my homepage to be. Thus I named it glasscases.
Nice, isn't it? ^_^

FTPing instructions
Date: 2001-03-16 03:23 pm (UTC)Your host name/address should be www.slashcity.net
or .com or .org, wherever you signed up. ^_^ and the userid... your userid ^_^
You will see that you're in the folder /user/youruserid
Keep going up to the parent directory until you can't go up any further. Which should be twice. ^_^
Then go DOWN into the Web directory. This Web directory is different from the one in your user/userid/ folder. Once you're in the higher Web directory you can start uploading happily. ^_^
Hope that helped no da!
BTW, where did you register your domain name and for how much?
o_O
Date: 2001-03-16 03:32 pm (UTC)Or is there some kind of webupload. If so, then where, for Pete's sake? I'm completely lost. ?_`::
Oops, forgot!

Date: 2001-03-16 04:23 pm (UTC)Okay... I'm using WS_FTP, and it's probably the easiest of the lot.
When you click on NEW, the form will be blank.
Profile Name (just anything you want to call it)
Host Name/Address: www.slashcity.net
( or.com or .org) there's no ftp.slashcity
Host Type: Automatic Detect (leave it alone)
User ID: Your UserID, not your URLuser.
Password: Your password
leave everything else alone, and click Apply.
Click Connect. Once there, you will be in the folder /users/youruserid
Keep going up to the parent directory till you can't go up any further. Then go DOWN one to Web. Start uploading. ^_^;
Yeeeeeiiiih!
Date: 2001-03-16 04:31 pm (UTC)Thanks a lot! *_*
