While taking the wrong subway today and being stuck on an unsheltered plattform in a blizzard for 20 mins. I felt a couple of not-so-related rants forming in my head that I'll just throw into the general direction of people. Feeling in the mood for ranting. Not really directed at anyone in particular, but you know what people say about the shoe that fits... *g*

Rant-o-Rama:

#1 is about people who post cryptic entries in their LJ. If you feel the need to broadcast something to the world, fucking do it. If you don't want to share it, there's a nifty little feature called "Private Post". Don't try to be all enigmatic and mysterious by posting shite that nobody understands or cares about.

#2 is, why the hell do people think they must let everyone know that they are JUST about to post something very exclusive and private and only an oh so select group of people is going to see it? Fucking get over yourself already, nobody wants to know. You're not getting any more special by doing that.

#3: Make-up colors. Why oh why is it that whenever you're looking for a special color the industry has decided just now that this shade just isn't en vogue right now? Why do they always rotate colors? Discontinue them? What are people supposed to do when they like one particular shade of eye shadow and Max Factor just decided to dump them? Would it kill you people just to keep a set of basic colors?

Okay, I think I'm done now.

1) I don't mind when people are cryptic, really. But I can see how it might be annoying to some, yes.

2) MEH! Yes. I dislike people who use LJ as a popularity booster. Really, really annoying. It's immature + intended to harm.

#1. I am guilty of doing this, but...sometimes you want to say something, and you can't say it, so you let out what you can. It can be annoying, I suppose, but on the other hand it's THEIR LJ, for them to use as they please, and I guess if they really piss you off, don't read it. I have a thing about people telling me what to do with my journal...if it's that bad, move on, don't read it. Also, my private entries are really only the boring stuff no one would want to read. I can't really journal if no one is going to read it, it's the reason I set up my lj account.

#2. Well, I did this once, but it was more of a "hey, this journal is really boring, maybe if I only post to a few people at a time, it could be more interesting." I think if anyone did this to me several times, I would be quite bothered.

So, yes, I know what you mean (though not about make-up, I just borrow from friends when I need make-up), but at the same time, I guess it's just that it's their journal, and they can do what they want, and if they're annoying and dumb, I'll ignore them.

Of course it's their journal and they can do with it as they please, but that doesn't mean I can't rant about it! ^_~ Besides, I'm sure I was guilty of #1 at some point in my LJ-life myself, but there are just people who do it all the time and then it gets annoying. And you can't really say "It's their private journal, they can do what they want", because it's not. It's LJ and LJ is public. If they really want to be all private, they can use the good old paper journal. But they chose to post on a public forum such as LJ and then they have to deal with the way people react to it. Your own personal diary and LJ just aren't the same thing. Again, it doesn't mean they should not post and say what they do, but they certainly shouldn't complain if people react to it, because that's exactly what they're asking for.

I suppose yes they shouldn't complain, that's very true. But I can't keep a paper journal. I can't write unless SOMEBODY is going to read it. So...it's a choice between saying half of what I want to say and none of what I want to say at times. Now, if on top of that they bitch that no one comments and whenever they do it's something about how they need to go into more detail, then yes, this person is a serious idiot, no doubt.
