Actor Richard Harris has died at University College Hospital in London,
according to a family spokesman. The Irish screen veteran, 72, had been
undergoing chemotherapy for Hodgkin's disease, after falling ill two months
ago. Harris, already a renowned actor, became known to a new generation of
film fans through his role as Professor Albus Dumbledore in Harry Potter and
the Philosopher's Stone - the first movie based on JK Rowling's tales of the
boy wizard. He had just finished work on the second Harry Potter movie,
Chamber of Secrets, when he became ill this summer.

Your LJ is where I learned it, Silver, and told Malin. How sad. I knew he was sick. Malin said just a couple of days ago that he mustn't die. And now he has. *sigh* I hope it wasn't painful. I remember when he got his Felix in 2000. That was the first time I saw him. He was acted very dopey and cute. :-) And then we saw Gladiator of course. His father'n'son-line is so amazing, on the DVD Ridley Scott says Richard came up with it himself. This is so sad.

He was a truly magnificent actor...*sigh*...he will be missed. Even my unsentimental sixteen-year-old brother was upset when I told him. And all he knows of Richard Harris is his role as Dumbledore. Shows you what an impression he made with his work...rest in peace, Richard Harris. *hugs everyone*
