Musing / Ranting in the FotR DVDs...

In August, there was the "Special Edition" with 2 DVDs. Nowadays that's already standard, to have two DVDs with all the specials, instead of one, so it can hardly be called special anymore... but never mind. Of course they already annouced that a much nicer, much more extensive version was due to come out in November, featuring all the cut scenes that they couldn't fit on those two DVDs the first time. At all. As in, no cut scenes at all. Nada. But a nice and long presentation of what you didn't buy this time.
So, we all know that the average geek can't wait for four more months before getting their hands on that DVD, so most of them buy the DVD now and the Deluxe Edition later. More money made for them. Up till now it's annoying but understandable.
Now the Deluxe Edition is as good as out, complete with four DVDs and everything your heart desired. And what do I see now? The "Special Enhanced Deluxe Version" with FIVE DVDs! >_< And it comes in some nifty cardboard panorama. It looks very pretty, the Special Deluxe Version but 59 € is a lot of money.
Now just wait, once all the movies are out there will be the "Uber-Deluxe Enhanced Mega Super-Duper Cut-Me-Own-Throat Special Collector's Premium Edition boxed set with never before seen footage for only 149$. Comes in a cardboard panorama of Rivendell, lifesized. Only, it'll more likely be 47 DVDs (after all, they've already got 2+4+5 in the deluxe version of just the first movie) and it'll cost much more...
*sighs*
Crooks.
