I'M AAAAAAAAAAANGRY!!!!!

I'm tired of those stupid American gits who don't give a fucking shit about foreign affairs and other cultures. I'm sick of facing their prejudiced asswipe talk every day when every word they say tells me that they don't have a frigging clue about anything but what goes on in their neat little continent!!! I hate their Americocentric worldview, their ignorance of history, their inability to make up a mind of their own and reach a decision without being told by the media!!!! AAAAAAAARGGGGH!!!!

*pants*

Okay... *brushes hair back* Sorry 'bout that. You, my dear friends and twinbrothers, should you be American, I didn't mean you. Because if you were one of them.... no I won't curse again... people I wouldn't be friends with you for obvious reasons. But there's only a certain amount of shit I can take per day.

united statesers seems alright to me. That?s what we call you anyway. North Americans is not accurate either, because North America also includes Mexico and Canada.

you may not intend to sound imperialist, and I?m no paranoid either, but it *is*. America is a continent, you?re just one country in it. I am as much as an american (I?m chilean) as you are. The rest of the continent has an equal claim to the name.

Okay then, "American" in the same broad continental sense as "European," and "U.S. citizen" for the specific nationality. No offense intended by the question.

Not at all--it's just something I hadn't thought about before. :-)

Okay, this is a little late, but what the hell. Don't forget the Native Americans and African-Americans... *sighs* it's awfully confusing even when you live in the damn country. You could always look at it like this: All the other countries and their nationalities are special, not like us generic Americans who can't even be called by the name of their country because it sounds stupid.

Ah envy, =( you're lucky... you don't have to live here. -_-;;;

so-called native americans and african americans are - in my opinion- united states citizens like the rest: they do not need those labels.

not to mention it makes things confusing. Native Americans: why should the natives of the current united states be *more* of a native american than the native of any other country on the continent? same goes for african-americans. there are a lot of people with african ancestors in practically all the other countries... as I said before: it?s just not accurate.

but it?s true; most of the time I?m glad I don?t live there. ;)

okay. of all those things said, I want to make sure that I know it?s not your fault, and I know that some people from the United States don?t refer to themselves as "americans" with an imperialistic intention. Sadly, there are those who do, and that upsets me.
