I was just going to help my granny who was preparing some instant meal for herself. Mashed potatoes with chives or something. She was already done when I came into the kitchen. Wasn't too hard anyway, just add boiling water. However, she was going to have the leftovers from yesterday as well. Some sweet dish, usually served with cherries. And... *gags* she put it INTO the mashed potatoes! WAAAAAAAAAAAH!!! This must be so disgusting! *shudders*

That's something I really hate about my family. They're all so... thrifty! At least from my mother's side. I can't blame them. They weren't very rich and the war brought a lot of pain and hardship for them. They learnt how to make ends meet. Even now my granny never leaves anything on the plate. She eats up the tiniest crumb. And my grandpa always heated milk and poured it into a finished glass of marmelade or honey until it was totally clean. They never wasted any food. And they also learnt how to eat cheaply. So, I understand where they're coming from. But I wish they'd realize that these times are over now. We're not rich or anything, but it's not like we have to eat rotten peaches or something!

Ick... my mother does that all the time. When something is mouldy or squashed, she just cuts off the icky parts and eats it anyhow. I could never to that! Blech! And she always buys cheap stuff. Meat, too. No wonder I stopped eating meat when there were always veins and fat and disgusting stuff on it. Everything is cheap. I hate that. Since I was a kid I was told that the cheaper stuff in supermarkets are just as good as the well-known brands. But that's bullcrap. If you buy good cookies, they taste a lot better than the cheapo version for 59 cents. Or coke. Ever had cheap coke? Might as well drink sugared water then. *shivers*

No wonder I never learnt to enjoy food... *sighs* I just wish it wasn't like that. My dad, on the other hand, is a real gourmet. He enjoys food a lot. Not as in, he likes to eat a lot, but he likes to eat good. He loves nice ingredients and skillful cooking... too bad my mom is a horrible cook. Took me years to realize that she's just a godawful cook. She just tosses stuff into the pan, adds lots of grease and lets it fry there until she's ready to bring the food out. Most of the time it's raw inside and burnt on the outside. -.-

Oh well... that's another reason why I am a godawful cook! LOL! Where should I have learnt it from? I know during the time when X lived with me, I learnt to cook a bit. He was a great cook...

Hm... now I got myself hungry... I think I'll see if there's something in the fridge... ^.^

Bwahahah! Don't remind me how many times I have secretly disposed of old food, hidden it way at the bottom of the trashcan to prevent mom from offering it again and again.

Eeek... your user icon is scary! O.O
