silversolitaireMe: *smiles* So... what do you think about possible pairings in DBZ?
Tom: Vegeta is powerhungry, he'd love to take Goku and show him who's on top.
Me: *nods* never thought of it before... but the way you say it... I think this would only be the logical development.
Me: he can't defeat Goku physically, so he has to find other means to dominate him.
Me: You know who's so obviously a couple?
Tom: Who?
Me: Tenchin Han and Chao Zu
Tom: 3 eyed guy and the little guy?
Me: yup
Tom: *nods* They're always together
Me: yes! And Tenchin Han does EVERYthing for him.
Me: and he freaks when he gets hurt.
Tom: *nod nods*
Me: and when they part, Tenchin Han says something along the lines of "I'll spend my days living with Chao Zu. he's a great cook." LOL
Tom: LOL
Me: that was SO married couple.
Tom: Yes
Me: ^_^
Tom: You know... Piccolo and Gohan might have been something back before Cell was beaten, but they're not really together after that, you know? Gohan stopped training and Piccolo just sits around doing nothing but training.
Me: well... we don't know what happened between the new season and cell's defeat.
Tom: We know mostly what's happened, They seperated, Gohan studies a lot, and what really tells me they haven't seen each other in a long time is Gohan's comment about Piccolo's outfit.
Tom: "And to think, I used to dress just like him"
Me: Right...
Me: but that doesn't really say that much.
Me: they haven't been together as a group in a long time.
Me: *wants to write Gohan / Vegeta now*
Tom: I think Gohan used to worship Piccolo, but Piccolo isn't really the type of guy who would accept being topped, so if they're still together, I doubt Gohan would still always be bottom... there's been too much of a change in power
Tom: Why Gohan / Vegeta?

Me: Like, it's a typical misconception that a bottom also has to be the weaker / female part.
Tom: But first and foremost, they're fighters, everything else is an afterthought.

Me: In yaoi doujinshi, the "Height Convention" applies. Thus, in DBZ doujins, Goku usually is the top.
Me: When the artist wants someone to be the Uke, he has to be drawn smaller.

Tom: Maybe that's why Piccolo is so tall? He's taller than Goku even

Tom: I don't see anything that would change his mind about it. He would either need to be raped, or you'd need some idea of what could drive his personality to doing it
Me: yeah it would have to be made convincingly, but I don't think it's impossible...
Me: *considers writting an essay about this* hmmmm
Tom: It's possible, but you need a reason for him wanting it.
Me: which could be provided.
Tom: okay then. What is your idea?
Tom: He's not powerhungry after the fight against Vegeta, so it'd need to be an old, old one to allow that as his reason. You could perhaps write one like that, using it as the reason why he doesn't search for power anymore.

Tom: Before the fight with Vegeta, back before Freeza, Long time ago, he was a powerhungry monster.
Tom: If you used that as his reason somehow (I dunno, but they've done stupider things to increase their power), then you'd have a story.

Me: after all, Picco merged back with God.
Tom: I'm just trying to think of a reason why he would be Uke.

Tom: They were losing, Freeza transformed, then Vegeta had an idea, if he was injured to the point of near death and healed by the little namek kid, he would become strong enough to take on Freeza

Tom: So it's not uncommon for those seeking power to do foolish things
Me: so, yes, they would go rather far to gain power
Tom: Like now he's mind controlled by Babidi

Tom: I don't know what Piccolo would do now... but when he was Evil, he'd do the same if it would give him power

Me: but that's exactly the thing, he doesn't hate Goku. I even think he loves him very much. but he wants to win over him so much.
Me: Vegeta and Goku have this love hatred.

Me: Vegeta can't live with Goku but most importantly can't live without him!
Tom: He hates that Goku has always been stronger
Me: I mean, what a lameass excuse to follow Goku everywhere.
Me: yup
Tom: They are rivals, they fight and become stronger by fighting
Me: I think he wants Goku inside out. He wants him completely, wants to dominate and consume him.
Tom: Vegeta wants a partner that is nearly as strong as he is, but not as strong
Me: I think, the most important thing about fanfiction is that it stays completely true to character. anything else is useless.
Tom: Right! That's why I didn't think Piccolo would be Uke.
Me: I think Picco could be made Uke.
Tom: He could, but you need a reason
Me: If someone writes Goku and Vegeta grasping each other's hands and breathing "I've always loved you but I was scared to admit! I love you!" this would be SO OOC.
