Sex and the City Star 'In Gay Relationship'

Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon is in a long-term relationship with another woman, New York newspapers reported today.

The Emmy winner and mother-of-two has been dating her partner for 10 months and said she was “very happy”.

Nixon, 38, who played the red-head, marriage-wary lawyer Miranda Hobbes, split with the father of her children, Danny Mozes, last year.

In January, she began a lesbian relationship, according to the New York Post and the Daily News.

Nixon did not confirm the romance when asked by the Daily News, saying: “My private life is private.

“But at the same time, I have nothing to hide. So what I will say is that I am very happy,” she added.

Nixon’s lover is not believed to be in showbusiness and the pair are not living together, according to the reports.

Speaking of Nixon’s partner, a friend told the Daily News: “She’s just a private citizen who would like to remain private.”

Nixon won her first Emmy last Sunday, in recognition of her Sex and the City role.

She began her relationship with photographer Mozes at high school but the couple never wed.

Nixon once said: “Marriage isn’t something that appeals to me.”

The couple split in 2003 and have joint custody of their children, who live in New York with their mother.

Nixon’s life is a far cry from her character’s, who wed, had a baby and moved out of New York City to the suburbs.

She met Sex and the City co-star Sarah Jessica-Parker as a child and started a career on Broadway.

But it was her role as a cynical partner at a law firm which catapulted her to international stardom.

Nixon recently agreed to play Eleanor Roosevelt in a TV film Warm Springs, alongside Kenneth Branagh who will play former president Franklin Roosevelt.
