Breaking the silence...
Oct. 16th, 2002 08:47 pmOkay, I didn't want to say it, but I guess I should make a post on it.
I have officially signed up for the NaNoWriMo. I didn't want to tell anyone so I don't get embarrassed when I go up in flames, which inevitably is going to happen. But then I figured that I'll want to post about it once it's started and also, the more people know about this, the more pressure I'll feel to actually finish. Hui!
Day went well today, with the exception of not having the time to eat which then resulted in a mother of a headache. x_x However, I'm now officially signed up for European Ethnology and have a place in the class. Yayness! And I got into the Nature Writing class which turned out to be mighty fun.
The professor is a guest from NY and he's just... very special. It's hard to describe. He came into the room and I immediately calmed down. He has a very calm aura. Also, he's a very natural person, environmental and spiritual. He wore organic fabrics, no leather. There was a Yin and Yang stitched onto the pocket of his west and Buddha's eyes on the back. He follows Zen.
He talked about how he met Mathiesson who also happens to be a Zen priest and he asked him if he could sit with him some time. Just sit and meditate. That's wonderful, I thought. He seems to be very active, very communicative with people. He wrote many letters to authors and special people. Like Jane Goodall. He's also a writer. He loves nature and animals. I bet he's a vegetarian too. *g* When he gave us the syllabus, the paper said that we're to limit our absense to two sessons. More than that and we'll be required to drive around the city in an old cadillac with cow horns on the hood! *laughs* I like this guy.
Also, he's bringing the fresh wind of American colleges with him. We'll get to write a nice essay as paper. That's just wonderful. I'm so excited. Not an academic paper, but something nice. Wahoo! Also, he requires us to keep a journal about each session. I wasn't so fond about it at first, but seeing now the many thoughts that I have in my head about this class I think this is going to be a good thing. I shall post what I write here, too. ^_^
And now I shall write down my thoughts on today's class...
