Is there something more peaceful than watching your cat sleep? I don't think so... How it warms my heart to see him lying there, all relaxed, but still his eyes look as if they were intently closed. Relaxation vs. concentration, the perfect grace of the moment. The snowy white wreath of hair tracing the line of his eyes. His beautiful eyes that look at me so full of wisdom, that are deep and knowing. So precious, like yellow-green gems polished by the tidal waves of eternity. Now he lifts his head with the lynx-like ears and I can see his cute little face, pointed and elegant and the highlighted dots on his snout. The shiny brown coat that covers his lean body, the golden spot between his shoulderblades that would have earned him the name Siegfried if I had discovered it earlier. He lifts his paws to clean himself. His tender paws, covered with silk and yet so powerful and efficient. And then he looks at me and makes this cooing sound that is reserved for only me.
I don't know how I lived so many years without his presence. I'm still feeling so honored that he chose me to be his friend. I will never forget the day I opened the door and he just strolled into our house and never left again. This is our second anniversary...

Cats are such a powerful presence. When I feel sad and tired I pet them, and the purring makes me happy. the fact I'm able to *give* them happiness never ceases to amaze me.

My mother adopted a cat while she was pregnant with me. I grew up with that cat and ever since then there have been cats in my life.

It's selfish the way I feel: they make me feel loved; my F?garo, the gay cat and Rita, the hyperactive reporter kitten.

they have been the only source of confort and happiness in many a sad, dark moment of my life-.
