Actually, I wasn't the one who deleted it. It was the other mod. I'm usually not the one who deletes and bans happily. I'm the one who reasons and discusses ^^;.

I really wish you wouldn't leave the community though. I realize why this would be upsetting to you, but I thought you handled this very well. Other people who've been caught in a barrage like that have really broken down and shown they couldn't handle it. You on the other hand seemed just fine which is why I'm surprised you're saying you're overly sensitive.

Anyway, I wish you'd give it another shot, but I can see why you don't want that. I'm sorry this happened. Newbies often get a poor start when stuff like this happens. Having a thick skin really is essential for surviving here...

Also, I don't get angry very easily, but I do get emotionally distressed which isn't very good for my health. I don't bode well with stress.

I do have a way of overreacting, so I think that leaving is for the best, as I don't want something like that to happen again.

As a long time browser, I knew that people in the comm could really chew you up, but I didnt think my own posts would be look at like that.

Listen. We have trouble with trolls in that comm a hell of a lot, as I'm sure you're very aware. That's why some of us mods have the itchy itchy delete trigger finger.

The comm was not created to be a LOLZ DRAMA sort of place. It's just for stupid links. I don't know how or why people got the idea that it was for something else, but it's not, and, when we catch it, we're going to do something about nasty behavior.

The comm is also not a democracy. There's not a need to discuss the rules with your fellow community members, because they're not going to change.

This is the received way according to the handbook of .... can't think of anything witty now. You contact one of the mods offlist. Best not in the middle of the night when the mods are tired and irritated after having dealt with jackassry all day. You lay down your point well and wait for a reply. You discuss some, then you agree that this subject should be discussed with the other members and the mod makes a post, inviting discussion. The end.

Because silly us, we assume that you guys are going to have some common sense as to what is and isn't all right. Like I said above, the comm isn't for drama. It's not for "lulz". We're /not/ lenient on the subject at all. It just keeps coming up, over and over again.

Look, if you want to enjoy the comm, then enjoy it for what it is. If you want a place to make fun of people, I know there's a few dozen other communities for that.

I'm not the only mod and other mods have other opinions. Personally I'm not a fan of too many rules and believe in letting the list rule itself. But I dislike people leaving because they get mocked and harassed excessively. I dislike this list being a herding place for assholes and wankers and not a quirky fun place where we share wtf-ness. I'm desperately trying to preserve that, but with every wank we get the noose tightens. If this blows over quickly there's a good chance there won't be a rule. If it goes on and on there's a good chance there will be. Then there will be modding, there will be deleting, complaints about deleting, deleting of complaints, accusation of mods being Nazis, people leaving, new comms opened etc. Been there, done that. No one's being punished yet, I'm just trying to quiet this down. Is this bad? Please understand.

LOL! No, sorry... I moderate a community here on LJ and we had a bit of drama there which then spilled over into my LJ as you can see, since this was the topmost public post of mine. People who were trying to contact me and who hadn't figured out my email addy yet, used this to talk to me about their concerns. Since the actual post that was there was some silly personality test result I kinda felt stupid about that after the 50th post or so, so I changed it to this LOL. It was like 4 AM and I couldn't think of anything better at that moment. I'll probably either hide it later or give it a less exasperated note!
