Okay, I've decided to stay home from class. Considering I can hardly speak and I'm feverish and all this seems like a sensible decision, doesn't it.

So, I've decided to mess around with my Phantom fic some. If not writing (too pulp-brained for that) then at least doing some research. I've read my share of Phantom fics and most of them had a deplorable state of facts and realism. Like, the Phantom would ride from the Opera house to some country estate in under 1 hr every night and crap like that. I aim to do better. Thing is, it's really difficult to DO better. I've read the novel many many years ago. And I MEAN many. Like, 17 years ago? Yeah, I think I was 10 or so. So naturally I barely remember anything other than the bare facts. So, what I'd really like to know is some hard facts from the book. I just don't have the energy to read it all again.

Is there anyone by any chance who has a fresh recollection of the novel? I'm wondering, is there ever any mentioning of the name of the Chagny estate? Those castles usually have a name and I wonder if it's said. I know that Raoul had an older brother who was killed by the Phantom, and that he has two sisters. Are they older? They're married and no longer living with him, right? And his parents are both dead, mother died at child birth and father died when he was 12. I know that Raoul went to the sea when he was younger and was aiming for a splendid career there before he had to take over family business. Is there anything else that's noteworthy? I'd be most grateful. (not that I think anyone will actually answer to this)
