(this spoils more than just the finale because events lead up to it. So if you don't want to read ALL of it let me know and I'll reedit. Otherwise, this will basically spoil entire plotlines.)
After Bree rejected George's (the pharmacist) advances he turned into some sort of freaky stalker and exchanged Rex's heart-pills with something else. Bree and Rex were slowly getting their acts together again, saving their marriage, but Rex's heart condition kept deteriorating. George kept infiltrating their marriage and in the end made Bree believe that Rex had told his colleagues about the S&M stuff, so she was really upset with him and Rex got another heart attack. She delayed taking him to the hospital for some reason. Then when he was there she kinda forgave him and said she wants to start all over again and loves him etc. While she was home Rex's doc showed him files which revealed that he was being poisoned with potassium and this led Rex to believe that it was Bree who did this. He started to get really upset and wrote her a letter that started with "I forgive you, Bree." Later, Bree got a call that Rex had passed away... T_T
The other thing that's very upsetting is that basically someone is waiting for Mike to come home to shoot him and it ends with Mike walking into the house completely unsuspecting and the voice-over says "And some people don't get their happy end." You don't hear a shot being fired and all, but it's still a really fucky cliffhanger.
