x_x; Turtle woes...
Aug. 8th, 2003 01:28 pmSo, I was sitting there with my coffee, reading LJ while having breakfast (which was a cup of choco cream with bread sticks) when my mom suddenly calls out for me, in a rather agitated voice. Of course I run like the wind and see her hold Siegfried in her hands! She says "Look at this!" and shows me Siggy's rear and tail which is covered in a strange reddish/brown mass. At some parts it was very thin, almost watery, at other parts it was a solid goo.
I was taken aback for a moment, wondering panically if he might have hurt himself. Mom said she had noticed all the spots on the stones which he was trying to climb. I checked them out and it looked like drying blood! I looked at him again and put my finger into the mass (ew, I know, but what was I to do?). I decided that even though I've never really paid much attention to turtle blood this probably isn't any. I mean, I've seen turtle blood once before when Roy (bless his soul) got shots into his leg and was bleeding quite badly. And this didn't look any like this. Even considering the heat and all. So, the only other logical explanation is that it was turtle shit x_x. Of course, to be sure there was only one way. I sniffed my finger. Yup, shit alright. Things you do for the love of a pet x_x.
Mom then continued to rinse Siggy's ass while checking for injuries, just to be sure, while I was rubbing my hands frantically under the water ^_^;;;. Not a good thing to do for a microphobic like me...
Well, since I had wondered for a while if he had lost some weight because he seemed too light to pick up, I weighed him. Of course he was putting up one hell of a fight. When it was accomplished we found that he had in fact put on 200 grams as opposed to when he woke up from hibernation. But of course that might be attributed to the fact that he had just had fresh melon. Maybe we should weigh him again once he's digested it... But I'm wondering if I should monitor his diet more. Perhaps he's got diarrhea from all the melon. But then I'd like to think that as a wild animal he should be able to eat right, no? But I'm gonna consult some books and see if I can offer him some supplements. It's really tough to check what he's eating >_<. Unless I catch him eating a snail >_<;;;;.
Okay, I think I should stop blabbling on turtle health. *looks around*
While I'm at it, Sherlock has reached a new level of wimpdom.
While I was searching for Siggy yesterday I see a hairy tail pass by the plants. I assumed it was Sher. As I step on the path I see that it's a different cat. That female white cat I've seen a couple of times before. She's very friendly so I said hello and rubbed her head. She walked down the path when she ran into mom, followed by Sher. They stared at each other for a moment, then Sher ran away from her and let her chase him OUT of HIS garden! >_< I walked after Sher, picked him up and stroked him while the cat looked at us from outside. He didn't even want to be let down! After a looong time he wanted to be let down but then ran away!
And then the white cat was back! And Sher was nowhere to be seen! I called for him and he wasn't there! Then my MOM had to chase the cat out of the garden. When this was done, then Sher came crawling out of the bush. And to top it all off, he attacked me. Now I can see it all clearly. I think he's compensating his frustration and wimpiness by trying to attack me
My cat's a wimp! T_T
Edit:
I don't think I can finish my choco cream now... x_x

Date: 2003-08-08 05:53 pm (UTC)Wild animals can have digestive problems too, they just typically eat the same thing and their body adjusts (or they stop eating it). It might be too much melon, too much sweets for him. Maybe cut back on it a bit and give him more greens?
As for Sher, he's always been a wimp XD
But he can't keep taking it out on you!!! >_
