Urgh, they're making a modern action-animation movie of the Jester Till (Till Eulenspiegel in the original). I can't believe it... -.-; And it's not even a Disney production. Then again, I shouldn't bash it too much. Disney does it all the time and they've been known to totally mutilate well-known folklore tales... *sighs* It shouldn't be so hard to come up with a story yourself, should it? I mean, I applaud them for wanting to open up old folk tales to the general public, but they're not really doing that. They just pick some elements here and there, things they like, and then make up something completely different and end up somewhat blurring the memory of all these stories until nobody remembers them properly anymore. I don't like that. Look at Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, The Little Mermaid, Tarzan and so many others. Don't get me wrong. I love those movies dearly, I do, but I wish they'd make it clear that they only were inspired by the original source...

Oh well...

What's Jester Till?

Yeah, Disney warps the stories like no one else. I much prefer Pixar movies - at least their plots are original.

Jester Till is a pretty famous German folklore tale about a simpleton in medieval times who plays tricks on the bourgeoise town people. He has several props, too, for example the mirror that shows someone's true face and the owl. I'd say he kinda coined the epitome of the town jester with the characteristic jester cap and the bi-colored tights. It's a bunch of neat stories, but somehow I doubt that the movie uses any of them. -.-

Know what I was wondering about? There's this movie to come up, Sinbad. It's a DreamWorks production, and the thing is, they spelt it exactly like that. Without the second D.
Makes me pretty mad in itself already, but I was still wondering if they'd had a copyright argument or something?
It's quite sad, because now all the children are gonna believe you do write Sindbad Sinbad... Sin-bad. That's so awful. >
