My poor kitty...

Sherlock has been having this weird lump on his right shoulder for a couple of days. Yesterday, it popped and left a seeping, sorta deepish wound. I guess it's over now, but I still wonder what it was. Ideas anyone?





First, I was scared that it might be cancer or something. But when I felt it, it was rather wobble and not as hard and solid as you'd expect from a cancer tumor...

On a lighter note, that pic's just cute ^_^. It's a couple of weeks old tho.

you should take him to he vet. I think that the lumb is/was an absess (can't remember how to spell it). Basically, he might have had some sort of wound under his skin and the abssess grew as a way to react to the wound/infection. If any liquid came out of it it was pus. You really need to take him to the vet to have that checked and the wound deeply disinfected. Stuff like that can grow into something much more serious if it goes untreated.

uh, it's not that I want to scare you or anything, but I've seen plenty of untreated absesses in people's bones and all I can say is "ouch!". It should be alright if you take him soon to the vet. Best of luck.

from your description and the pics, that is an abcess, it's size and location disturbs me. i'm not a medical scientist in any fashion, but i see alot of the results from infection and sepsis at one of my clients.
don't panic, but your cat needs to see the vet - now

i know it's been forever since i've commented. i would definitely take him to the kitty doctor. sounds serious. they'll be able to drain it fully, disinfect it and give him antibiotics to keep it from getting all infected. good luck. =)
