Richard's Simple Theo-Survey Who were/are the top 3 Christian thinkers (apart from Jesus or the apostles)? Martin Luther, Martin Buber and Martin Luther King... lots of Martins O.o;. Okay, okay, I know Martin Buber really is a JEWISH thinker, but I still think that some of his theories apply to "Christian" too. I mean, big deal, right? So, here goes. Do you think that the objects of theology are fundamentally rational? No. Theology is the discourse on something that cannot be explained rationally, thus it can't be rational to begin with. What is the proper relationship between theology and philosophy? Interdependence What is the proper relationship between theology and science? Mutual granting What is the proper relationship between philosophy and science? Checks and balances God: One Substance and Three Persons or Three Hypostatic beings? One Substance Who sends the Holy Spirit? Does it matter? No clue, and no it doesn't matter. Does the host's meaning come from Transubstantiation, Consubstantiation, Symbolism, or something else? Symbolism. Natural theology: Nay or Yay? yay Do you hold to any certain eschatological stance? No, I think it's quite ridiculous. If at all it'll be humankind's own fault and won't be otherwise motivated from someone else. Human Will: Are you a libertarian, molinist, hard determinist, compatiblist, or something else? Libertarian, quite simply. Apologetics: Do you prefer classical, evidential, presuppositional, existential or something else? Evidential, I'm afraid. Mysticism: Does it (need to) play a role in a person's spiritual life? I'm going to be lame and say it depends on the person, because it really does. Governance: Episcopal, Presbyterian, Congregational, Libertarian or other? Does there have to be one? Should there be a sharp distinction between clergy and laity? Hm... no. Do you agree with common law marriage? No. Should Christians fight during a war? Good point... essentially it contradicts the Christian belief, but then again the Bible also acknowledges there are causes worth dying for. But not really fighting. So, I guess a true Christian should try to find another way. Same Sex Marriage or Civil unions: right, wrong or "who cares"? Personally I'm inclined to say "who cares", but knowing what it means to a lot of people I hold the believe that EVERYone, heterosexual or homosexual, should have the right to enter marriage or civil union, whatever they prefer. I oppose that marriage is for straights only, but I also oppose that Civil Union is for gays only. I could imagine many straight couples would prefer a civil union over tradional marriage, too. What role do the Christian scriptures have in contemporary ethics? Let's face it, it's what our society is based on. So even though it probably doesn't play such a huge role in your society anymore it's still there and certain inherent aspects of our moral beliefs are simply founded on Christian standards, whether you like it or not. What is a proper Christian attitude towards a person who commits suicide? Compassion, possibly regret for not helping sooner. Who are the top 3 Christian artists of our time? D'oh! I have no clue who's a Christian of them and who isn't... I just never bother. So sorry, can't answer. What is the most pressing issue that confronts Christianity at this time? Reviewing obsolete sets of rules, encouraging respect and inclusion and fighting bigotry. Should there be such a thing as Christian Pop Culture? I find it superfluous, in all honesty. If someone is firm in their beliefs they can't be corrupted and thus the need to shelter someone from malicious influences is pointless. Christian parents should just make sure that their children understand their beliefs and know to apply them. Then they can't be shaken. And if Can a Christian vote Liberal/Left Wing/Democrat or Conservative/Right Wing/Republican? Probably depends on the candidate's program they vote on. Both can support and contradict Christian standards. Should Christian's work to 'Christianise' the morality of their nation via censorship laws? NO! Can a Christian support the death penalty? No. Nobody can. Period. Where do you see the Western (North America/Europe) Christian church in fifty years? Still in place, possibly weakened, possibly strengthened, depending on whether they managed to adapt or not. Where do you see the southern (South America/Africa/Asia) Christian church in fifty years? Hmmm... can't say much about the latter two, but I'm willing to think that the South American church might be still where it is now in 50 years. Augustine, Aquinas, Pseudo Dionysus, Calvin, Luther, or Barth: Who would win in a bar fight Hahaha, Luther! CREATE YOUR OWN! - or - GET PAID TO TAKE SURVEYS!
