First, I went on a guided tour through the Jewish synagogue that isn't being used anymore, sadly. I remember this building from various school concerts when I was a kid. The building itself has nothing left but its history. All the Jewish symbols have been taken away and destroyed during the war. Most of the tour was being done by a bunch of 9-graders who apparently had created some sort of study circle. That caused a certain lack of depth, but it was still nice. I tasted some Pessach bread, mazza, which tasted very much like cardboard O.o. And I put on a Kippa briefly. I know I probably wasn't supposed to do that but I was curious. And I impressed my former Religious Education teacher by recognizing the Mesusah.

Well, the actual reason I went there was because I wanted to visit the Jewish cemetery. It's very hard to get to it. For one, the location is hidden, and then it's closed most of the time. Isn't that exciting? It was really fascinating to see it. So many graves, all facing east, one next to the other, some sunken in because the cemetery is really old, some lopsides. Stones on the graves to show you were here as a symbol of the Jews walking through the desert for 40 years and covering their dead with stones so the animals couldn't get to them. I had this faint memory stored away in my brain about Jewish graves never being tended and straightened out. I was right. Apparently it's the Jewish belief that once dead the body it has to become one with nature again and thus caring for the graves too much and decorating them would disturb this. Of course this is what I caught from the rather shallow lecture. I might summarize it all wrong, so I beg forgiveness in this case. I also saw a bunch of symbols on the graves, such as hands in "Spoke pose" (*ducks*), a flower, a knife and a hat... and I forgot the rest now. Very interesting to hear what they meant and all and I could brag a bit with my knowledge since I've studied the culture of death this term.

Well, that's most of what I did there. Kinda tired now, so I won't summarize it all.

After that was a cultural celebration in the ghetto nearby (I know this is a horrible term, but the American soldiers used to live there and the term kinda stuck). Well the Turkish and Russian friends of our town presented themselves with folkloristic performances and local food stuffs. I had planned on going there, but I felt a bit sick upon our return, so I skipped that.

Then in the evening I went to the themepark where there was a big firework. It's summer again! So this means long nights and fireworks at the themepark, haha. It was nice. I had a veggie wrap for dinner.

Okay, very tired now, so I'll probably do the sleepy thing soon. Randomly, can anybody tell me what Hellraiser is about? I don't fucking get it.

Thanks to the day having been so busy and SD being an asshole as always I barely got to spend time with my wuvie... oh well. Bed now...
