What I did today...

Since I went to this dollhouse convention yesterday and saw lots of nicely things I was kinda bitten by the dollhouse bug. You must know, our family has always built dollhouses. For as long as I can think we were cruising little shops all over the world to dig up neat little things and details for mom's "lifework", a dollhouse she's been building on for over 10 years. Even now they're still adjusting things. Everyone's involved. So it was only a matter of time I was bitten, too, right? I was looking at all the neat stuff and kinda thought how nice it would be to have something nice of my own. You see, I've always wanted a Sherlock Holmes house, but I quickly decided that it'd be too much. So I thought about another project and decided that I could make Samael's room! ^.^
With that thought on my mind a bought a series of extremely cheap furniture (and some little trinkets like bottles and tin plates... oh and a Stetson, kickass, only 5 EUR). It was just plain wood, sloppily pasted together. Today I spent most of the day sanding it, then varnishing it. You could say I was instructed in the ancient art of dollhousing by my parents. Mom told me how to use the varnish properly and dad later helped me make the drawers close nicely. Later he decided that one of the legs wasn't glued on well enough so we fixed that too.

Of course, the desk looks way too neat now... doesn't really fit into Samael's room... >_>;;;. I need the look of a Bohemian who lives poor and loves it. Hehehe... well maybe I find a better desk later. I also need a crater, a stack of books, an ink well, a hat stand, a luggage... hm, a bed, a paravent, battered blinds, some clothes... Okay this may take a while... LOL. Thing is, it has to look really old and battered, grimey even, bit it's so neat now! Ah, the pain! LOL
