Erm, okay, color me stupid, but how can I use my 50 MB of disk space? I got the impression that I can use these 50 MB designated for my phone posts (which I don't really plan to do) for using it as a picture server as well, no? So, how do I do it? Or isn't this planned yet? Geeze, this is confusing.

I mean, it's great that LJ is implementing so many things now. It makes people want to get paid accounts. Before that it was just like "Why should I pay? I don't really know how to customize my journal, nor do I care, and these 7 more userpics, pffft. Nah I'll save the 25 bucks." And frankly, this is quite understandable. That was all it was for over a year, really, which very few additional features such as polling and so on. But now it's REALLY nifty to have a paid account and it extents far beyond the vanity part (to which I count layout and userpics). So, that's great.

What I dislike a bit is that you really only learn about the new features as it slowy seeps through your friends list. I wish they'd mail newsletters or something. Or have an LJ that's announcements ONLY. I have this one on my friends list, but there are so many fucktards posting to it that I took it out of my default. Hm, maybe I'm just stupid. But I just wish I was informed about changes sooner and faster. Not that it's really that bad. Just wishful thinking.

Anyway, now how do I get to my disk space?
silversolitaire: (d'oh!)
We were going to put up my shelves in my room. I curse IKEA! Or rather, my mother. Last week we had bought these hooks that you can use to make shelves. We actually were going to buy a shelf, but mom thought it was going to be SO much cheaper if we just bought the hooks and got some boards in the store.

Turns out this was the most annoying brainfart she has ever come up with. We needed 9 hooks (3 per board) which cost 2.50 EUR a piece for starters. Then we bought the boards yesterday and all the ones that were cheap looked SO sucky that they'd never make decent shelves. So we got non-cheap boards which were 10 EUR a piece >_<;. So we ended up paying 52.50 EUR for that wretched shelf in the end! Granted, it's customized and a lot longer than any IKEA ready-made one would have been, but JESUS! If I had known it was going to be so much work I would have said "FUCK IT! I want the IKEA shelf!"

First, we started fixed the hooks to the boards, thinking it'd be a lot easier to then drill them all together to the wall. Half way through I noticed that it wouldn't work, because the one hole meant for the screw to the wall was covered by the board >_<. So, all of them had to be removed again. Oh, I forgot. Before that we noticed that we didn't have screws small enough to fix the hook to the board. So we drove to the closest hardware store which was closed at a perversely early time >_<. We drove to another one which was closed too! Then we tried to bum some screws off the local carpenter who's a friend of my parents' but he wasn't there. So we drove 30 mins just to get to another store that was open. And then the business with having to remove the hooks again. By that time we already had killed 2 hours.

Then things just kept getting worse and worse. The first hole we drilled into the wall almost hit a pipe. We noticed that just in time before a disaster could happen. So it all started out with one sucky hole extra. We drilled another hole which gave us new spirit because everything worked out alright and the hook sat really tight. The next one however hit the mortar between two bricks. Our house is made of bricks and is really old and things like that are a disaster, really, because that means no dowel will stay in place. We drilled at least 4 holes then >_<. Just nothing worked out. And it was really annoying to work there, walking around on my bed. The dust of the bricks made huge stains everywhere, it hurt our eyes and noses, things kept falling down... Many times the dowels came loose with lots of pebbles coming out. We tried to get it sit tighter with plastic glue first which was a stupid idea, because the hole wasn't deep enough again and a huge wad of dust and mortar came out with it. (Oh yeah that was another annoying thing! Even though the drill was long enough the holes NEVER were deep enough! I made no fucking sense!!!).

Okay, I'll spare the rest, but it was just fucking annoying. The whole thing. Now I have lots of holes in my wall that are useless, black and gaping, and some hooks on the wall that don't really stay there because the dowel came loose. It smells of the honeywax we used on the boards and the silicone we used to fix those holes. The shelves STILL aren't done yet, we need to work more on it tomorrow. The vacuum cleaner died so we're bound to make a huge mess no matter what and I almost killed my cat when the boards fell over, nearly smashing my Shiva statue to pieces. And then, when I finally wanted to relax some and cuddle Sherlock he farted right into my face >_<;;;.

This was a sucky day, all in all, as you can easily guess.. *sighs* And tomorrow I have tickets for my brother's concert. Mozart's Requiem. It's great, but I don't really feel like it ;_;.
