Hey it's me! I'm still alive! ^_^;;
Jul. 24th, 2003 01:47 pmIt must have seemed as if I had suddenly disappeared from the face of the earth... or maybe nobody noticed? LOL. Well, the story is simple. I had to work Tuesday and Wednesday (mehness...). Because of that I drove back to where my flat is in the early morning (meaning 7:30 AM, which is pretty grave for a night person such as I). Of course I was stuck in a traffic jam and I arrived at work sorta late. In addition to that I was majorly tired. For some odd reason I just can't sleep in the night when I've set the alarm clock. Just can't. I keep having odd dreams and I wake up all the time. So, I must have slept maybe two hours, despite the fact that I had turned in early.
Needless to say, I felt like curling up on my desk and going to sleep right away x_x. And to top it all off, mom calls me on the cell to tell me that I've forgotten to bring the recharger for my computer >_<;;;. So, it was clear that I'd spend the rest of the day fucking bored out of my skull once I was let off work. I mailed Tom from my work computer and told him that I wouldn't be on, then I did my Neopets stuff and proceeded with wrecking the homepage at work (okay, so I suck at cold fusion, but I'm going to learn it and if it's only for kicking Alex' butt >_<).
Anyway, work passed rather quickly. I mailed Richard from work because we said we should meet again before he's leaving and he had just returned from Istanbul the day before. To be honest, I hadn't expected him to actually be there, but he mailed me and said he "wouldn't want to miss it". He even gave me his home number to make sure he'll be in. I guess he had a bad conscience from last time he stood me up! ^_^; Anyway, after work I checked his office and he was there! So we got to chat for a bit, which was really nice. He lent me a copy of Poets & Writers Magazine and we talked about MFA programs and TA positions. We also chatted a bit about the article he had written on his stay here. With mail he had sent me the article on education he's working on now since he wanted me comments and all ^_^. Midway into chatting an Italian girl from our creative writing class showed up and it was amusing to see her and Richard interact. She was so... familiar with him. Like she offered him a note and when he wanted to take it she pulled it away again and laughed. It was funny. We didn't chat awfully long anymore after that because the girl wanted to ask him some things, too. So I left and promised to be back the other day with comments on his article and the magazine.
Oh, I forgot to mentioned two, no three things. One, Tom was retaking his insurance test today! Of course I was thinking about it anxiously, hoping he'll pass it this time. Two, I had picked up my portfolio in the morning, prior to meeting Richard (whom I met in the afternoon). I was pleased to find that I had gotten a straight A! Yaaaay! Three, I also got to talk to the secretary and found out that I do indeed have to take that second basic course -.-. This is ridiculous. I'm in my 9th semester, I've been through all the basic shit in the English department already and now the American department wants me to take an "Introduction into American Literature" class -.-. Just shoot me. Oh well, it can't be helped I guess, so I signed up and with lots of sweet talking I was allowed to sign up for the HS as well. For once Mrs. D. was nice to me and didn't try to bite my head off! LOL
Anyway, after meeting Richard I took the train into the city and browsed the stores for a bit. I just wanted to kill some time since I knew I'd be pretty much bored for the rest of the day at home with nothing with me but my computer and that only had power for a few more minutes. So I browsed the stores and looked for presents for my dad. It's his birthday tomorrow. I already have a nice present for him, but the one my bro got him is plain awful and embarrassing. He bought two tiny clay figures at a zoo weeks ago and was planning on giving one to mom and one to dad -.-. He's frigging 27! So, I browsed the story to find a present for him. There I met Regina, a girl I know from my Brit lit classes! She's a tiny bit annoying sometimes, so I debated not making her notice me, but then I decided against it and said hi. We had a nice and long chat where we walked through the city a bit. I also found a present, a video on J.K. Rowling, which I bought for bro. Around 6 we parted and I drove back home. I picked up some McD's on the way home and then spent some time eating and watching TV. I was still awfully tired, but I just couldn't nap.
Later I took Richard's article and wrote comments on it. I also took some notes of stuff I wanted to write once I was back at the computer at work, since I wanted to make sure to give very detailed comments. Then Tom called! Yaaaaaaaay! He passed the test and we all were major happy. Of course he had to call during Sex and the City, but hey! I was glad! ^_^ He hung up soon after that to go sell some insurances right away. I watched some more TV and called my bro to tell him about the gift I've gotten for him. Then Tom called again, we chatted some more and I went to bed.
The next day work was as usual. I managed to fix the cfm codes I had messed up and everything was mainly peaceful and pleasant. After work I went to see Richard again. I hadn't called or mailed or anything and I STILL caught him! Amazing! LOL! This time we had lots of time to chat and it was really nice. He offered me vegetarian gummybears which were sorta gross... We also talked about his homepage. I had offered to make him one out of pure pragmatism since that would make sure he doesn't just escape out of my sight once he goes back to NY. Apparently that really touched him and also surprised him because he had just said to a friend the other day that he would like to have one and had no idea how to do it! There's no coincidence, eh? Anyway, we talked a bit more about it, what to put on it and all. We also talked more about writing. I asked him if he'd sell the rights to his books even though he knew they'd make a sucky movie from it and he said he probably would. It's money in the bank. I'm not sure if I would... We also talked about family and my hometown. I told him about the castle and its history. And I talked about Siegfried. Richard laughed when said Siggy is over 40 years old. He said "He's older than me!" For some reason I also mentioned Li, probably because we were talking about poetry and how much it takes out of you to promote your books. I said she lives in the NY area too and that she likes to perform and read out her poems. He actually said I should let him know when she performs again and he'd check it out with his friend! (>___
