It's a false rumor, denied by both McKellen (as I knew) and Lee, too.

McKellen Has NOT Been Cast as Dumbledore!
Friday, December 27, 2002 3:50 CST
Frankly, we're stunned that websites and trade magazines are reporting this story posted by U.K. tabloid The Sun as a fact...

One cast member told me Sir Ian accepted the part of Dumbledore last week but an official announcement will not be made by filmmaker Warners until next year.

A source on the movie set told me: "Everyone has been sworn to secrecy about Ian McKellen getting the role of Dumbledore.

"One of the production staff let it slip and now it's spreading like wild fire.

"He got the part just before Christmas but Warners won't announce it until the New Year."

Sir Ian's appointment comes after the favourite to land the role, Dracula actor CHRISTOPHER LEE, ruled himself out.

Fans, the fact is that Ian McKellen has not been cast as Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and Christopher Lee says he was never even asked. The following was posted by McKellen on his official website on December 26...

Fact: Ian McKellen has NOT agreed to succeed the late Richard Harris in the role of Dumbledore in the Harry Potter movies. He has expressed interest in perhaps playing a different role some time in the future of the series.

And an article on this story posted on Christopher Lee's official website was labeled "Sun Lies" and read...

The Sun newspaper, which is reknown for controversy and less than truthful news, has published the following:

"New Potter wizard is... Gandalf!"

Sir Ian's appointment comes after the favourite to land the role, Dracula actor CHRISTOPHER LEE, ruled himself out.

Let's wait until we hear something concrete from Warner Bros. themselves before we start calling it a fact, shall we?

Since Cammy pointed it out. I just love this quote. It's Orlando Bloom about Viggo Mortensen:
“I’m like, ‘Fuck off,’ and he says, ‘Come on.’ So we’re barefoot, waist-high in water, walking on these little rocks to get to the other side and I’m doing it because I’m an idiot and I’m following his lead. Because he’s an idiot. And because he’s amazing,” Bloom laughs. “I can’t believe how much this is going to make me sound like I’m in love with the guy.”
*sighs and has happy thoughts*

Oh yes, the joy... if anybody wants to know how much I suffer just read the entries of my LJ of the previous year, right about the same time as now. Then you will know. And you will laugh and look forward to a week of painstricken entries by me, informing you of the antics of my beloved grandmother. *deep sigh*

So far everything went fine. The trip didn't take very long, actually o.o. Only about 4 hrs, which is really fantastic considering the long distance. I napped most of the time, so time really flew by. We stopped at some reststop which my dad really likes. I don't know what's so great about it, really, but I guess it's okay. So, the trip was kinda okay, but sitting for so long really bothered my knee. It's hurting a lot now... T_T

We hadn't even quite arrived yet and my gran already complained about my hair and commented on my ass -_-. And then during dinner she forced us to listen to some insanely long story that she interrupted at least ten times trying to figure out whether it was time to put out the trashcans tonight or not and in the end nobody knew what the hell she was talking about at all. I *think* the gist was that some woman who's friends with a distant cousin of my mom whom my granny used to babysit a lot when she was a baby expressed her interest in meeting my parents (God knows why) and now we have to dine in some fancy restaurant. Okay? *shrugs* And I was immediately humiliated in front of my aunt when my granny blurted out first thing when she called that I wanted to eat with her, just because I said that last year's invitation was so nice. *grumbles*

Oh! And another funny thing in the endless rows of useless factoids about family members and friends was when she mentioned some Aunt Hettie. Note: in this part of the country EVERY person your parents or grandparents know are either aunts or uncles, no matter what the type of relationship is you have to them. So, needless to say, my bro and I had zero clue who she was talking about. So I tried to gesture to my bro whom I thought it was, putting my fist in front of my nose, mimicking a very large nose. At the same moment, my bro twisted his lips, letting the corner of his mouth hang down like a paralyzed face. We stared at each other and then just burst out laughing. Then we looked at my dad (who was suffering just as much) and he gestured a very large woman. We still didn't know who of the freakish friends of my granny it was (one is missing a finger!!!), but we had a lot of fun trying to charade them.

--- Newsflash ---

Granny: Which knee of yours is hurting?
Me: The right one.
Granny: Yes, it's the left one with me, too.

-.-;;;;

*sighs* I'm really looking forward to shopping tomorrow. Lots of new stores and all and I got 100 € from granny ^.^. That's the good thing about having your granny live in the center of a big city. Also, I sincerely hope that sign next to our window learnt to behave itself. There's this very bright commercial for some clothes store and it has the oddest times to be on. Like right now, at 10 PM, it's switched off, but last year it had adopted the habit of suddenly switching on at 3 AM or something, bugging the hell out of my bro until it graciously switched off again around 5 AM. So, I really hope they changed that. Otherwise we're going to assassinate it later tonight. Accidents can happen, with kids starting fireworks all the time... ^.^;

Oh well, gonna see what tomorrow will bring. So far, I'm fine. Missing Tom like hell. And I hate not being able to go online as I please. That sucks muchly... *saves entry* And I forgot my nice pillow with the fixed tray where I usually put my computer on... Annoying...
