Christmas survey from Melle
Nov. 26th, 2001 11:55 am1. When do you put your Christmas/Hanukah decorations up?
Just did, so... I guess a month before Christmas. But that's just me because I love to see the lights as long as possible. My parents do it on the 24th of December.
2. Do you prefer to use Christmas lights that are all one color, or do you go for the multicolor effect?
Multicolor! Yeeeeeih!
3. Real tree or fake?
Real, of course. Well, my parents do. Personally, I don't have one. Would be a waste for one single person.
4. Where do you get your tree?
Those dudes at the parking lots who sell a whole bunch of them.
5. Perfectly shaped tree, or one with character?
Perfectly shaped.
6. Where do you put your tree?
My parents, living room.
7. Tinsel or garland?
Neither? o.o We never use tinsel, and garland? Can't remember... don't think so! Maybe a fake silver one? *shrugs*
8. Blinking lights or solid lights on the tree?
Solid. Real candles even.
9. What sits on the very top of your tree?
A Christmas Tree Top! D'oh! Hehhee, it's purple-ish, made from milky glass.
10. Eggnog or hot chocolate?
Neither! *shudder*
11. What does your family Christmas/Hanukah feast consist of?
Nothing special, I'm afraid. As a matter of fact, it's even tradition to have a very humble meal.
12. What day do you typically hold your Christmas celebrations?
On Holy Night.
13. When do you open your presents?
On Holy Night.
14. Do you open them all at once, or one by one?
All at once. We never wrap them up, just cover them with a blanket.
15. Favorite Christmas movie?
A Nightmare before Christmas
16?? Motherfucker! Someone stole 16 and I can't reproduce it! Fuck...
17. Do you have any family holiday traditions that you partake in each year?
No...
18. For New Year's Eve, do you go out, or stay in?
Depends on where I am. Last year, I was wondering around at Times Square. This year I guess I'll be spending it with the family, so I'll stay in.

I wanted to tell Cammy-chan Happy Birthday, but she apparently got disconnected when I logged on. And now I don't know if it's already "today" in her timezone or still "yesterday" or "tomorrow" soon... T_T I'm confused.
And then I wanted to talk with Fei about Gravitation, but she's not online either.
Life is depressing. *sighs*

Melanie Thornton died and there's not a word of it on her official website. This pisses me off.
I find this very scary. Whenever I think how a singer has a nice voice and I should check out their CDs, they die! Holy crap! I basically thought that about her this Friday when I say the Coca Cola commercial. T_T Same with Aaliyah... Or rather, with her it was how pretty she was. I never much liked her music. I've always loved her looks.
*sighs*
I feel sorry for Melanie. Why are so many people dying lately? It's scary...

Contemplating on Queer...
Nov. 26th, 2001 11:56 pmYesterday, while writing Cara, the line "To Valentine, our favorite queer!" came up.
That got me thinking.
What makes a person queer? In our society, the word "queer" has been given to gays or people deviating from the sexual norm. They are "not straight", a word which again describes someone going the straight way, instead of the odd, the queer way.
So, does that mean that in a world where everyone is gay, "queer" no longer means "homosexual", but rather "heterosexual"? Since, in this world the one deviating from the sexual norm is the heterosexual one. I've created the world of Cara, so I know almost everyone is gay. The few ones who aren't definitely are outnumbered. Procreation is achieved through different measures and the few women who live in Carnal City are there to cater the desperate heterosexual minority. Most women were smart enough to leave this place.
While discussing The Torch Song Trilogy today with my class, I realized that there was a kind of sexism in certain kinds of gay literature that creates the idea of a gay community. In order to live in a happy community someone has to go. In the case of Torch Song Trilogy, it's the women. The mother and wife of the main characters have to leave so that Arnold, Ed and David can live in their happy gay family.
I must say, I never thought about this. But... it's true I guess. Even though I don't much like to admit it. In my world, men don't have much room either. The few ones that I can abide are gay as well. It's strange...
Ah! I'm digressing! What was I going to say anyway? Ah yes, queer. Well, I guess I brought my point across already. So, can someone who's gay in a world where everyone is gay really be called queer? I wonder I wonder...
Going back to today's class... I was really pissed off by that elderly woman who's showing up in that class for some strange reason. Rather out of curiosity. At any rate, she doesn't need the credits. I, however, do. And today it was the SECOND time that I came into the library to copy the essays for that particular class that I was going to need in 20 minutes and she was sitting there, clutching the book and not willing to give them to me ("Oh, classes start in 20 mins. and I haven't read them yet!"). I hate her... Plus, she always says stupid stuff in discussions. Stuff devoid of meaning. Gah!
Well, whatever. Gonna "enjoy" my frozen beer now. I forgot it in the freezer. Meant to have cold beer, now I have supercold beer. Lalala...
