Oy!

It was bound to happen. Now my beautiful entry about Savage Garden is no more... *sobs* Well, it has moved down to the "Previous 20"-section. But still... it was my master piece regarding format. *sniffs* Well, until next time.

I feel like a bit of ranting now, so beware...

Air Force One was on TV right now. I really, really hate this film. Why? Because it's packed with cheap pathos. Ugh! This is a movie by a German director, Wolfgang Petersen who - just like his country man Roland Emmerich - doesn't seem to be able to do one frigging movie without brown-nosing around the American audience in a way that is so disgusting that I just want to scream every time I think about it.

There we have this very handsome, very heroic American president who, in the face of danger, refuses to leave the plane in order to save his sorry butt, but NO, he stays on board to save his family, staff, the crew, golf equipment, gold hamster and toothbrush, all in one go! Then he dives underground and puts out every single kidnapper, gangsta-style. Single-handedly. And blindfold, of course. Yeah right! And of course there are these neat little American I-love-my-country-kiss-my-ass scenes, like when this selfless jet pilot tossed himself in front of a missile to save his president. *wipes a tear pathetically* I could barf at the thought of it!

And then there's The Patriot by Emmerich. Just like Independence Day before it and in a way Stargate as well, this movie's so packed with American heroes that I can do nothing but weep for the future. Why do only Americans get to save the day, I ask you. And German directors let them! Why??? I am not a fan of the German cinema, oh no. But why do our exile countrymen do everything to conceal the fact of their origin?

It's disgusting, sad and miserable. That's ALL it is.

Thank you.
