Siegfried, the turtle Sherlock, the cat Opty, the bug
Just now dad saw Siggy sitting in the pen kinda looking -__- because he had no food. So I went to get him a slice of melon and he POWERMUNCHED it out of my hand. He had the whole slice down in 30 seconds or so. I was starting to fear for my fingers. While Siggy was finishing it off suddenly a shadow was looming over us... Sherlock was standing there, also looking -____-. As always he's an attention whore who can't stand others being paid attention to. Sher and Siggy exchanged a long glance, staring each other down... then Sher pretended to get bored and wandered off while Siggy munched the rest.
Siggy then zoomed off before I could get another slice and Sher flopped in front of my feet and demanded cuddles NOWZ! So I cuddled and kneaded Sher some before turning to go back to my paper. Then dad arrived and he had a bug on shoulder. Sidenote, I've been trying real hard to find the proper term for heteroptera but all I find is "bug" or "true bug". *shrugs* So yeah, it was a bug. Anyway, I took it off dad's shoulder and he was all "Take it away, take it awaaaaay!" and mom joined us and was all "OMG it stinks when it gets squashed!!!" to which I said "It won't just auto-squash suddenly!" - "But it will when I step on it!" - "Then DON'T step on it, geeze!" *rolls eyes*
Anyway, I let the little fellow wander across my arms some and then put him on a leaf. and now I'm back at the computer.
The End.

Date: 2005-07-13 06:56 pm (UTC)Shield bug! Funny! This is how I described him to Tom! "A bug with a shell that looks like a shield or a crest." Cool. And he sprays stink just like that, too? Oops. LOL. Well good thing I didn't threaten him, eh? *g*

Date: 2005-07-14 08:38 am (UTC)I can just see a show on Animal Planet:
"Well, John, the interesting thing about this bug is that when threatened it auto-squashes itself. Of course it doesn't keep the bug from dying but it does seem to repel animals that eat only live bugs."
"I say, Ralph, that is a very unique evolutionary design."
< Too much giggling, must stop >
