If you remember the fimo fruits from a couple of weeks back, here are a couple of pics of dishes mom and I have been preparing over the past days. All food stuff is made from fimo clay and meant for dollhouses in 1:12 ratio.

Overviews:

Salmon sandwich

Asparagus, ham and potatoes.

Schnitzel and fries.

Ravioli

Mozarella and tomato salad.

Hering rolls (kinda hate the bread roll there. It was so much better before the varnishing... *miffs*

Cucumber salad, sorta...

Cheese platter. ^^

Some cheese sandwiches.

Asparagus in ham.

Sausage platter.

Fruit salad and stuff. Isn't the banana leet? I did it all alone!

In case you're wondering, this is a size comparison:

Those are amazing! o_o I can't even imagine the amount of work that must go into them. And seriously, with first, larger pics? You could totally have told me it was real food. XD

My mom would just love doing stuff like that. I should save those pics and show her. Heee.

day-amn, you and your mom made those all by yourselves? That is too kool! I don't think I've ever known someone who could do something like this before.

Also, dude you have some patience. Wish I had that sort of focus LOL.

Malin & I are totally in awe of you. *impressed* How did you make the fat layers in the meat?

Date: 2005-05-07 02:53 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] silversolitaire.livejournal.com
Hehehe thanks ^^;.

The fat layers are made by cutting into meat colored clay, then inserting thin layers of white mixed with translucient clay. Then you have a "cane" about 6cm long and 3-4cm thick (it varies, of course). Then you start stretching and kneading the cane gently until it becomes the size you want it to be, gradually thinning out and becoming more delicate. It's a bit difficult since you have to knead really gently or else the pattern shifts and it looks bad. You can see at the cucumbers that the pattern shifted a little there which is why we decided to use the bad slices up in salad.

Thank you! ^^

We're still trying to figure out a perfect technique for the sauce since sometimes it's still lacking (like for the ketchup). Right now we've used normal acrylic paint for the sauce before varnishing. I want to experiment with PVA glue and paint next time since I'm hoping it'll dry shinier and thicker.

LOL ^^;. Thanks. I don't really have that much patience. I interrupt my work a lot because I get annoyed and then I walk around some, check mail, chat a bit and then have another go at it. My mom is a lot more patient which is why she usually does the assembly stuff.

LOL! Yeah I know that some look pretty realistic when up close O.o;. But then it wouldn't really be that amazing would it? Anyone can take pictures of their lunch XD;.

I should take pics of the flowers mom made. THOSE are just mindboggling, seriously.

[livejournal.com profile] irdamajere linked me to this and the first thought I had was "why is she showing me a bunch of pictures of food?" XD

These are brilliant!

I just love these! I'm wondering how you manage to make them so detailed..because they are so small..?! I mean, my fingers are way too big for that.*g* Have you ever taken any pics while you're preparing them?

Wow! And how do you make he asparagus?? And the sauce? Malin says that she's totally impressed by you.

Hehehe thank you! :D You know a miniature is really good when people think it's nothing special when seeing a picture of it! XD;

Date: 2005-05-09 11:48 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] silversolitaire.livejournal.com
Thanks, Malin! XD

The asparagus is nothing special. You just make little strings of aspargus-colored clay in the right size. Then you round off the tip and squeeze the pattern into it with a needle or a similarily slender tool. No biggy at all!

The sauce is acrylic paint, but it's still lacking, so next time I want to experiment by mixing the paint with PVA glue which should make it dry off shinier and thicker.

No I haven't! I should take pictures of the individual steps, shouldn't I? But I've mentioned in the threads above how I'm doing it to get the stuff so small. You can read it there if you're interested! ^^; (too lazy to type it all up again).

As for your fingers, it's not really the size that matters *g*. You just need the proper tools to handle it. Such as a very sharp blade to cut the clay, slender needles to press patterns into the material, pincers and flattened tools to pick up the pieces and move them around. If at all it's the length of your fingernails that can become a hassle.

Hehehe! Yeah the ham does look rather juicy doesn't it? O.o;

I'm not really that patient, believe me. My mom's a lot better at it which is why she does most of the assembling. I often havbe to interrupt myself and get up and walk around some to clear my head after I've been annoyed with it. Then I can continue again. ^^;

Oh if you could do it sometime, some pics would be great, I'm very interested in the process ^_^
And of course, you have to have the proper tools..I just couldn't think of what you can use. lol
