'Nip/Tuck' Star in "Final Two" To Play Bond

Nip/Tuck actor Julian McMahon is competing against one other unnamed actor to become the next James Bond. The Australian-born star of the TV cosmetic surgery drama will find out in the next few months if he has been chosen to follow in Pierce Brosnan's footsteps as the next 007 in the hugely successful spy-series. The other contender is believed to be British actor Clive Owen - who was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role as Julia Roberts' husband in Closer. The 36-year-old says, "I'm a big James Bond fan. I met the producers for a final audition. They told me to expect a decision in a couple of months and they said it was between me and one other person. It's going to a very nervous wait."

Wow... first time since I heard that Pierce Brosnon won't be reprising Bond that I actually approve of an actor rumored to be the next Bond. Heard that Ewan McGregor rumor? Pfft, don't be ridiculous. Amd I know there are people who really like Clive Owen and want him to be Bond, but personally he does nothing for me, he doesn't look like a Bond, he doesn't act like one, he just wouldn't be a good Bond. I've been a long-time fan of James Bond, I've seen all the movies, I know all the villains and Bond girls and henchmen... and I've always really really loved Brosnan as Bond. I thought he was perfect. If it wouldn't be sacrilegious to say that he even is better than Sean Connery I would. But... I'm not. Because Connery IS Bond. No doubt about that. But after him, it's Brosnan. And Clive... Clive is about as suitable was Timothy Dalton was. Which means, not at all. Sorry. That's just my opinion, of course.

Anyway, should McMahon nab the role I'll be a very happy camper. It'll be a comfort for the fact that Brosnan-Bond will be no more. *nods* And since I'm already babbling about this... why not make a poll! I'm curious now.

Rate the Bond! Who do you think was the best Bond so far? Who the worst? Just rate them from 1 to 5! ^^

[Poll #445701]

EDIT: Okay I'm a total dumbass and filled my own survey out wrong! hahaha ^^;;;; Okay... Let's say 5 is best and 1 is worst then, okay? *changes up and hopes the other survey takers meant that... since I can't imagine someone making Sean Connery the worst Bond...*

*does the unpopular opinion thing*

Okay, Lanzenby was the worst, but I always thought Sean Connery's Bond was dreadful. Actually, I thought anyone apart from Dalton and Moore was quite awful.

*hides*

McMahon sounds good, though. Better than all the other rumors I've heard anyway. I seriously can't imagine Hugh Jackman or Gerard Butler.

I have only watched Goldeneye, so I can't fill out the poll. Still, I wonder how you will be able to understand the results. o_______O

a friend of mine and I had been talking about who should play the new bons about a month or 2 ago. We had decided that we thought Jude Law would make an excllent Bond.

Course if he did then Chris Rock's prediction of Jude being in everything really WOULD be true LOL.

LOL that's okay! Your opinion is as valid as anyone else's. If I ask my gut feeling I'd go for Brosnan, but Connery is just the Bond I've grown up with, you know? He's one of my earliest memories, I've watched Goldfinger SO much when I was a kid. Hell, I even wanted a gold bar! XD; So, to me he'll always be Bond. On the same note, I have a lot of... not so nice memories concerning Moore as Bond. Most of his films weren't so nice, at least to me as a child. Lots of evil and unpleasant scenes are in the Moore movies. So I guess that sticks... But he's still a nice Bond!

LOL, no you don't. At least you used the nice mean/median/stddev type of poll. =P

LOL yeah Chris Rock was really mean about Jude Law. He didn't deserve that!

But apart from that, I don't think he'd be a very good Bond, honestly. He's TOO pretty, you know? I just can't see that. Plus, he has fair hair! I'm very strict about that! LOL... my Bond has dark hair. That and even if he was offered it I don't think Jude would do it. They probably want to have the new Bond sign for more than one movie and Jude never does that. He already rejected Superman because of that because he didn't want to commit to several sequels and run danger of being associated with a role he was playing. So I'd say, no chance.

I know what you mean about the earliest memories thing. When I was a kid, I saw most of Moore's Bond movies (I think I will always fondly remember "A View to A Kill" and "For Your Eyes Only"), so I suppose that's the reason Moore is one of my favorite Bonds to this day.

It wasn't until years after that that I saw Dalton and I totally fell in love with his interpretation. *sighs* I wish he'd done more than two movies....

Heh. Just thinking - how about Tom Cruise as the next James Bond? :P

*gulps* Something tells me that you might not be too fond of the idea of Tom as Bond. But maybe I'm just misinterpreting your reaction. ;)

Well... let's put it like this. I don't really like Tom Cruise as a person. I don't know why. He seems to be a decent fellow. But I guess it's because he's a Scientologist and that always makes me dislike people. But he's done a couple of movies I liked a lot, to my own dismay. *g* All of this set aside I just can't see him as a Bond. This is where we clash again I think because to me Bond HAS to be dark-haired. And Tom looks just too modelly for my taste. I see Bond as handsome and yet manly, whereas Tom rather has a boyish charm. *shrugs*
