(no subject)

Some quotes from the Larry King interview with Siegfried. They touched my heart...
"If the tiger had wanted to kill Roy he would be no more. And I wouldn't be here. The tiger wouldn't be here. And nothing... my life, everything he has done, my light... would be no more."

"We have been together for 44 years. This relationship was... IS... second to none."

"There will always be Siegfried & Roy as long as Roy survives."

"I miss the stage, I miss the audience. But most of all, I miss Roy."

[in answer to the question whether somebody is staying with him while Roy's in hospital] "I'm going home alone... I'm alone now... But in the end of the day, I'm gonna be with Roy, and he's gonna be with me."
P.S.: I'm really sorry if I'm annoying everyone with this... but this really worries and troubles me and hey, this is my journal, isn't it...

I saw this show last night, after I had read this. It was so cute! Do you really think he was admitting they are/have been lovers? And the stuff about the tiger... Am touched too!

I don't think there's anything to admit there, you know? It really is an open secret, so to speak. I mean, the US tries their best to phrase it as innocently as possibly. They always talk about his long-term partner and that "they have been working together for over 40 years" etc. They try to put it in a way that it can be read as "colleagues only" for those who are inclined to see it as such. In German reports they're a lot clearer about it. In the headlines of the tabloids Siegfried was quoted with "my beloved Roy" which you really can't say for a friend. They've always been like that to the German public. They never brought out the rainbow banners and chanted "We're here, we're queer!" (LOL!), but they never left the shadow of a doubt that they were a couple. Although I must admit that there had been newsreels some years ago that they had seperated, so I don't know about that. Also, in footages of the hospital I saw Siegfried walking down the corridor with his arms around the shoulders of a young man. So, dunno... But I think it's obvious that they still love each other.
