As much as I hate the candidates who're getting press for this, I hate Gray Davis more. Incompetent is one thing, there are a lot of incompetent governors here. INSANE is entirely different, and if you ask me what I think of a man who supports the death penalty for people under 18, the three strikes law, and a host of other things that fill our prisons to the breaking point, while at the same time doing nothing to actually deter crime...yeah, insane is one of the words that may come up, along with grossly uninformed, and heartless bastard. I'm a leftist, and still I'm all about getting this man out of office.
There are some good candidates buried behind all the BS that's being presented as "news."
*nods* I don't doubt that there can be a good governor coming out of all this. Thing is, I'm a little worried that with people's frustration and demotivation with politics, they might just choose to elect one of those "fully qualified bozos" just for the hell of it. We're had similar things like that before. I really just thought the cartoons were funny ^_^;.
As for Davis' insanity, I had no idea! o.o The only news that reached me were the big deficit. I had no idea that he was this radical. Oh my God. But isn't he a Democrat? Or did I miss something? Geez, Ah-nuld is Republican and I fear what he might do...
Ahh, yes, the unfortunate truth of politics, it is very possible that someone can win on celebrity. I'm hoping that the people of California can look past it all and elect on merit...Arnold has no chance, then, if you look at his weak attempts to dodge politics.
The problem with the modern Democrat is a fear that Democrats look weak, so they feel with crime they have to go to the other end of things-- there really is no two party system anymore, I don't believe. It's why so many Americans went Green, methinks. Davis has pissed me off for a long, long time, and while the budget is the main reason that they're giving for the recall, there are many other reasons I would vote to have him removed if I were a California citizen. The thing about Arnold is, he's a Hollywood republican, not that it somehow fixes everything, but his attitudes seem to be more down the middle than anything, with a bit of right-wing bent.
Basically I've given up on my dreams of moving to California, and realized that Canada may be the last safe haven for Americans bothered by the way their country is being run.
