No I haven't seen that movie, but ostriches are so kind and loveable. They don't really hurt you if you observe a couple of precautions, such as not letting them close and high enough to pick your head and stay out of their strike area. ^.^;
*smiles* They're definitely cute. That funny bushy patch of hair on their heads! XD
They won't peck you if you watch their heads and even if they do, just hold them by the neck and you're fine ^_^. Even when they "bite" you it doesn't really hurt. The worst thing that can happen (or has happened to me anyway!) is that some skin comes off when they try to grab the food from your hand because they grab too hard and their beak scrapes you. But it's not really bad. If you wear gloves (like I did on my feeding hand) nothing happens at all. ^_^
LOL yes, but I think I wouldn't be that scared even without the fence. I wanna ask if they accept help, so I can get closer to them ^_^. I think if it was only 2 or 3 ostriches, it'd be okay. If it was 50 like there usually are on the other side of the fence, then yes, I'd be slightly nervous ^_^;;;.
*pattles Siegfried* That has gotta be the cleanest (and consequentially the cutest) tortoise I've ever seen ^____________^~*
People back home aren't too big on cleaning their tortoises/terrapins. They believe the animals can snap their fingers & hold on for a really long long time.... So they seldom touch them =/ They just leave them in a cage or a tub of murky smelly water for their entire lives... =(
Meooooow... poor tortoises! T_T They are endangered, how can people mistreat them like that? *sniffs* And they only snap you if you're very slow and if they hate you. My Siggy loves me, he has no reason so snap me. Although, he once got my finger accidentally and that was a nasty cut. Their beaks are sharp like scissors, seriously!
That's what I thought - that they won't bite you if you've been nice to them, based on the tiny baby terrapins I used to play with.
Yeah... =( They're really badly treated back home T_T You know, once I knew this man who kept a huge softshell turtle - freshwater kind & almost a metre in length (about 60-70cm being the shell) - in a tub in an unused bathroom below his house. Later on he slaughtered it & ate it T_T It's terrible!! Sometime after that when my dad tricked me into eating turtle meat I absolutely yelled at him T_T
the ostriches are cute, but i prefer duckies and swans and hawaiian geese. but i like feeding animals and birds. i need to go to a petting zoo i think.
I think it's so fascinating to see such huge birds in close-up. They're so noble and tall, powerful and yet gentle. Of course they're also kinda greedy and peck at everything in reach! ^_^;;;
like swannies! and swans have such big beaks too. and they're messy eaters. the cute ducks peck tidily and you keep the grain in your hand but swans pecks everywhere and then they dip their beaks in the water and come back and dribble pond water all over you. honestly...
i've never met a real ostrich. i've seen rheas (their south american evolutionary equivalent), they're cute.
*pets them too* We only have goats and stuff in feeding zoos here and those are so annoying -.-;. Especially when they climb you and start suckling your hair XD.
It's kinda difficult to find something they want to eat. They didn't like my grass and the apple chunks were too big for them. *will look up other things next time!*
o.O I've never heard of picky goats before LOL Have you tried bread? Usually I pluck the grass from around the pen so it's stuff they're already used to ^^
