Lord of the Rings!

Yes, ladies and germs, I too have finally moved my ass off the couch and into the theater, and I must say I am amazed. This movie is truly amazing. I mean, everyone knows that by now, so I won't indulge in endless praise anyway. But there are a few thoughts I want to write down now so I will remember it later.
  • It's long, man. Like, really long! I thought I'd die. I mean, I was greatly entertained, but two or three times I was squirming in my seat, wishing for it to end. When it did end I was both pissed off and relieved... hahaha..
  • I'm very pleased to say that Legolas has a slashability that goes beyond *twitch* Gimli. I'd be willing to slash him with anyone, Aragon most of all. Boromir, why not. Frodo, fine too. He's hot. Period.
  • What's the deal with the elves' hairdo? Is their hair stylist taking a permanent break or what? Why do they all have the same hair style? *blinks*
  • Okay, elves are hot. I said that, didn't I? LOL
  • Am I the only one who noticed that Legolas didn't sink in when he was walking on the snow whereas everyone else was in to their hips? Why is that, I wonder? Are elves lighter than anybody else? He sure has a better balance and he's very nimble. Hm... Out, vile plot bunnies, go! I don't have the time for you! Shoosh!!!
  • Gimli... that dwarf has more ego than what's good for him. Quote my bro, "He's gotta compensate his size with his ego."
  • Yeah, never let my bro and me go to a movie together. We LOVE MSTing stuff, even though we adore it... heh...
  • When the folks fight over the ring and Gimli later offers his axe. Me: "So, you mean the other axe you brought along after you trashed the first one?" hehehe... Or when Boromir says they won't be able to do it, I complained "Party pooper!" and the people around me laughed! hahaha
  • When Bilbo got this really nasty face in the elf village... it freaked me out, man... I mean, like really REALLY freaked me out! I must have screamed the house down. Those are things that freak the hell out of me... *shudders*
Hm... there were tons of other thoughts, but I forgot them all... I'm still on a high, I guess... ^_^

I've been re-reading the book, and it says that he is lighter-footed than the rest of them. It actually happens on their way back down; Boromir and Aragon plow their way through the snow, and Legolas runs on top of it to scout out where it thins out. I don't know whether elves weigh less, or if they just put less weight on their feet. I've always thought of them as having bird-bones instead of human ones.....

I always imagined them evolving from a feline species of some sort... but I think we can blame that on Tad Williams' stuff.

Hey cool! Thanks! That's exactly what I wanted to know! ^_^

I really don't know what to think... I mean, on the one hand he did have a very nimble way of moving and jumping. Like, he managed to jump a lot farther than the others. But on the other hand, being lighter can be a disadvantage in battle... Hmmm... but then again, no idea how "putting less weight on your feet" is supposed to work! Magic? The Force? heheheh... Guess just being lighter makes more sense, natural law-wise... hmm...

Hmmmm...I just saw LOTR today (yay!) so I was looking out for the snow scenes...he does seem kind of on top of the snow...but it's a little hard to tell. Not that I mind looking at him. ^_^

Glad to be of service *g* As for 'putting less weight on your feet', I think it just means that you move faster, so you don't have time to sink down, or something. And though I always thought of elves as being catlike as well, the way Legolas moved in the film reminded me more of mountain deer.... maybe chamois.
