Gonna take a bath now... Will watch some Dragonball Z later on.

Bleh, I have to read Room with a View and it sucks so bad. I mean, I'm sure it's great, but right now it bores me out of my wits. Okay, E.M. Foster was a gay in the closet. Maybe I can find SOME subtext at least... *cries*

It's been about a hundred years (okay, like 8) since I read RwaV, but the chances are *very* high there's gay subtext. A Passage to India certainly has some, and Maurice, as I understand, not having read it myself, has homoerotic text. (RwaV made almost no impression on me, obviously, back in high school, but PtI is really quite good.) Is there any particular reason you're not liking it? 'Cause Forster is Edwardian, no? The beginnings of modernism?

'Maurice' does have homoerotic content, which is why Forster wouldn't allow it to be published until after his death. As far as I know, it is a semi-autobiographical story about the hero coming to terms with his sexuality. It was made into a very good film with Hugh Grant, (pre-Four Weddings), and Rupert Graves as the love interests. I can't remember who played Maurice. Either way, the film's worth watching, the book's worth reading. As for RwaV, I'm not sure as I haven't read it, but the chances are they'll be subtext somewhere.

I sure hope it'll be improving anytime soon, because right now it's boring me out of my wits.

I've studied E.M.Foster intensively for my same-sex desire subtext class in gender studies. "Maurice" is fine, I like it, but RwaV... dunno. Knowing about Foster's biography, I can only hope there'll be something interesting soon!... T_T

Yeah, "Maurice" is autobiographical and it's not just subjext, IMO, it's quite out in the open. I always feel sorry for Foster that he didn't dare to come out in his lifetime... *sighs*
