Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne

I knew this was going to happen...

Every time I make excessive fun of something I end up becoming a huge fan! Plague take it! Now I'm actually taping Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne episodes and downloading the soundtrack! hahaha

That's just too weird...

I guess, what I like about it is the romance bit. I like it that the heroine isn't the usual squealy crybaby, like Usagi from Sailor Moon or Momoko from Wedding Peach who always pine after some boy and are whiny and unhappy about their vocation and so on. Maron is different. She's serious and she does her job without complaining. AND, most importantly, she isn't so stupidly romantic. She even fights off Chiaki who tries to win her heart. She openly says she doesn't understand love and know how to do it. I really like that.

Also, the romance isn't set up the usual way. You know? Girl meets boy, they don't like each other, bicker around, but secretly are SO in love. The usual stuff. But here, Chiaki likes her from the start while she's very reserved. And Chiaki first wants to follow a plan and then finds herself falling in love with Maron against better judgement. I like that. And I like the fact that he's got a girlfriend.

Other things I like is that there aren't terribly long transformation sequences and that Jeanne doesn't have all those special supercool superpowers.

What I'm missing is a real baddy. But I've read up in the net and know that this will improve soon. I'm also missing queer stuff. Where's that? I know, Akita looks like a girl and he even wears make-up, but that's not good enough yet.

The whole "missions" are pretty dispensable. That's just stupid. But luckily, there's enough backstory to back up for it.

And I really like the artwork, although the eyes are too big. But the coloring style of the anime is very nice.

Ergo: I like the show, even though it has weaknesses!
