The Literary Cavalry underneath my House

I reserved a copy of "The Vampire Lestat" at the StaBi, this huge library in the heart of Munich. It's always so much fun dealing with it! I placed my order today and was told it'll be ready for pick-up on Oct. 10th, 12 PM (that's midnight, folks *snerk*). That is, they actually expect me to believe that it'll take them 8 goddamn days to move their ass over to the shelf, take the book and place it on the cart for me to get it! Yeah right! Okay, I know it's a huge place, but puleeeeze!

This reminds me of this very amusing episode last term when I wanted to get the book earlier than this since I thought this was a tad bit long and the lady behind the desk said in this saucy tone: "Oh, of course, Mylady, we can jump on our cavalry horses at once and speed down all the 100 miles of shelves to get the book just for you!"

At this point I might add that my hometown is no less than 75 miles away from Munich which sorta means that the shelves go underground all the way through Bavaria, past my parents' house and many many others! This image of a blue-liveried guy, wearing a gold-rimmed chapeau and shiny black leather boots immediately jumped at me, how he mounted his horse, blowing his horn and taking off to go on his long and tiring journey... *chuckle*

I must have bowled over, laughing. That nice lady almost kicked me out!
